Arylation of nitromethane with sterically hindered aryl halides

Efficient conditions for Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling of sterically hindered aryl halides with nitromethane were developed to give corresponding aryl nitromethanes. The opportunity to carry out the reaction of polynitromethylation under these conditions was demonstrated, as well as to use the obtained products in the synthesis of bisnitrile oxides.

     

Stereoselective functionalization of 1-alkoxy-2-(phenylethynyl)cyclopropanes <Emphasis Type="Italic">via</Emphasis> lithiation and subsequent reactions with electrophilic reagents

trans-1-Alkoxy-2-(phenylethynyl)cyclopropanes undergo lithiation at the hydrogen atom in the α-position to the triple bond on treatment with BuLi in THF at–(65—70) °C. The resulting organolithium derivatives react with acetaldehyde, acetone, dimethyl disulfide, and methyl chloroformate giving the corresponding alcohols, sulfides, and esters with the yields up to 69% with complete retention of cyclopropane ring stereoconfiguration. The obtained methyl 3-alkoxy-2,2-dimethyl-1-(phenylethynyl)cyclopropanecarboxylates and the corre-sponding acid readily undergo ring opening with addition of water molecule or HCl.

Solvent-free and transition metal catalyst-free synthesis of indolo[1,2-f]phenanthridine from 6-chlorophenanthridine

A new easily scalable synthesis of the important for materials chemistry indolo[1,2-f]phenanthridine from commercially available 6-chlorophenanthridine was developed. The suggested transition metal catalyst-free and solvent-free procedure is more ecologically friendly and cost efficient then the known methods. The yields of indolo[1,2-f]phenanthridine synthesized from 6-chlorophenanthridine in three steps were 20% and 26% if the cyclization was carried out solvent-free and in THF in the presence of lithium 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidide, respectively.

     

Formation of 1-D polymer in recrystallization of the adduct Mn[(OOCC<Subscript>5</Subscript>H<Subscript>4</Subscript>)Mn(CO)<Subscript>3</Subscript>]<Subscript>2</Subscript>[O(H)Me]<Subscript>4</Subscript> from acetonitrile

It was found that the recrystallization of the adduct Mn[(OOCC₅H₄)Mn(CO)₃]₂[O(H)Me]₄ from hot acetonitrile in the presence of benzene produces polymer [μ-(OOCC₅H₄)Mn(CO)₃]₄[μ-η²-(OOCC₅H₄)Mn(CO)₃]₂(NCMe)₂(OH₂)₂([μ-η²-(OOCC₅H₄)Mn(CO)₃]₂)[μ-(OOCC₅H₄)Mn(CO)₃]₄[μ-η²-(OOCC₅H₄)Mn(CO)₃]₂(OH₂)_2n. The obtained polymer was characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis.
