A convenient procedure for the synthesis of 1-bromo-3-buten-2-one, 4, from commercially available 2-ethyl-2-methyl-1,3-dioxolane, 1, is described. The procedure involves three reaction steps: (1) The acetal 1 is converted to 2-(1-bromoethyl)-2-bromomethyl-1,3-dioxolane, 2, by reacting 1 with elemental bromine in dichloromethane to yield 98% of 2. (2) Dehydrobromination of 2 with potassium tert-butoxide in tetrahydrofuran gives 2-bromomethyl-2-vinyl-1,3-dioxolane, 3, in 84–93% yield. (3) Removal of the acetal protection from 3 by formolysis for 6–10 h afforded 1-bromo-3-buten-2-one, 4, in 85–94% yield. A more rapid method is acid hydrolysis of 3 under microwave activation (100 °C, 8–10 min), by which 4 was obtained in 75% yield. Full experimental details are given.

A sensitive LC/MS/MS method has been developed by derivatization of 17β‐estradiol (E2) with dansyl chloride to quantitate 17β‐E2 in female rat serum. The use of E2‐d5 minimized interferences from endogenous 17β‐E2 in order to achieve a limit of quantitation (LOQ) of 2.5 pg/ml using 150 µl of female rat serum. The recovery of the dansyl derivative was 95% or greater in quality control samples. The intra and interday assay precision was better than 8.2 and 6.2%, respectively, with accuracies ranging from 97 to 101% in the quality control samples. The assay was used for the quantitation of serum E2 as a biomarker for the estrogen receptor (ER) antagonist activity of small molecule SERMs (selective estrogen receptor modulators) in the female rat brain. The study revealed that a statistically significant upregulation of serum 17β‐E2 occurred for rats dosed with SERMs that are known to penetrate the brain and disrupt the hypothalamic‐pituitary‐ovarian (HPO) axis. Variations in 17β‐E2 in ascending dose studies also correlated with the corresponding trends in CYP17a1 levels, an mRNA biomarker for ovarian hyperstimulation. This biomarker assay has provided a useful screen for medicinal chemistry optimization to produce SERMs that do not interfere with negative feedback of estrogens on the brain and for biological hypothesis testing. The African weaver ant, Oecophylla longinoda, is used as a biological control agent for the management of pests. The ant has several exocrine glands in the abdomen, including Dufour’s, poison, rectal, and sternal glands, which are associated with pheromone secretions for intra-specific communication. Previous studies have analyzed the gland secretions of Dufour’s and poison glands. The chemistry of the rectal and sternal glands is unknown. We re-analyzed the secretions from Dufour’s and poison glands plus the rectal and sternal glands to compare their chemistries and identify additional components. We used the solid-phase microextraction (SPME) technique to collect gland headspace volatiles and solvent extraction for the secretions. Coupled gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis detected a total of 78 components, of which 62 were being reported for the first time. These additional components included 32 hydrocarbons, 12 carboxylic acids, 5 aldehydes, 3 alcohols, 2 ketones, 4 terpenes, 3 sterols, and 1 benzenoid. The chemistry of Dufour’s and poison glands showed a strong overlap and was distinct from that of the rectal and sternal glands. The different gland mixtures may contribute to the different physiological and behavioral functions in this ant species. 相似文献

Herein, Ag nanoparticles (NPs) modified MoS2 (Ag−MoS2) was applied to the surface of glassy carbon (GC) to produce a robust electrochemical sensor for the detection of thiabendazole, a common antifungal in the post-harvesting of fruits. Cyclic voltammetry studies confirmed thiabendazole exhibited an irreversible, diffusion-controlled process on Ag−MoS2 with a two-fold increase in peak current than the pristine MoS2. A square wave voltammetry was used for the detection of TBZ. The developed sensor exhibited a linear range between 1–10 μM with LOD down to 0.1 μM (S/N>3). Analysis of TBZ in mango and banana matrices gave a recovery of 91.6–100.4 % indicating the suitability of the sensor for food safety monitoring. 相似文献

After some opening comments on how I think one should approach the philosophy of mind, I look at what relatively little Gilbert Ryle had to say explicitly about intentionality, that occurring almost exclusively in his several papers on phenomenology. Then, I discuss the notion of intentionality with respect to the doctrines of The Concept of Mind, although neither the word nor the idea, strictly speaking, appears anywhere in the book. Following more exposition of my own views, including an argument I have made for a certain specific theory of intentionality, I close with some reflections on Ryle as a modern-day Aristotelian. 相似文献
