Ecdysteroids of a culture of tissues and cells ofAjuga turkestanica

The possibility has been studied of obtaining ecdysteroids — ecdysterone and turkesterone — with the aid of a culture of the tissues and cells of the plantAjuga turkestanica. Triterpene glycosides and their genins fromThalictrum foetidum. I. The structure of foetoside C

A new glycoside — foetoside C — has been isolated from the epigeal part ofThalictrum foetidum L. and, on the basis of chemical transformations and spectral characteristics its structure has been established as oleanolic acid 28-[O-α-D-glycopyranosyl-(1 → 6)-O-β-D-glucopyranoside] 3-O-[O-β-D-xylopyranosyl-(1 → 3)-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-α-L-arabinopyranoside].     

Syntheses based on strophanthidin

Summary With strophanthidin as starting material, 3, 5, 10, l4-tetrahydroxy-19-norandrostan-17-one has been obtained by a five-stage synthesis.     

Reaction of the lactone ring of diffugenin

Summary Under the influence of caustic alkalies, diffugenin (14-anhydrostrophanthidin) undergoes a complex irreversible change with the opening of the butenolide ring. The main product is a -hydroxy--lactone (lactol)-the stable tautomeric form of a -aldehydo acid. The existence of aldo-lactol tautomerism is confirmed by the preparation of derivatives of the and forms.
