We use a third-order perturbation theory and Melnikov's method to prove the existence of chaos in spinning circular disks subject to a lateral point load. We show that the emergence of transverse homoclinic and heteroclinic points lead, respectively, to a random reversal in the traveling direction of circumferential waves and a random phase shift of magnitude pi for both forward and backward wave components. These long-term phenomena occur in imperfect low-speed disks sufficiently far from fundamental resonances. 相似文献

P‐doped TiO2 (PTIO) thin‐films with different P contents were prepared using a sol‐gel method. The thin‐film samples were characterized using various techniques. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by decomposing butyl benzyl phthalate under visible‐light irradiation. The results showed that the transformation of anatase to the rutile phase was inhibited and grain growth of TiO2 was prevented by P doping. The results confirm that the doped P atoms existed in two chemical forms, and those incorporated in the TiO2 lattice may play a positive role in photocatalysis. The high photocatalytic activities of the PTIO thin‐films may be the result of extrinsic absorption through the creation of oxygen vacancies, rather than excitation of the intrinsic absorption band of bulk TiO2 . The PTIO can be recycled with little depression of the photocatalytic activity. After six cycles, the photocatalytic activity of the PTIO film was still higher than 98%. 相似文献

Atomic force microscopy (AFM) is used to measure the surface roughness of crystalline Pt thin films as a function of film thickness and growth rate. Our films were electrodeposited on Au/Cr/glass substrates, under galvanostatic control (constant current density), from a single electrolyte containing Pt4+ ions. Crystalline structure of the films was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique. The effect of growth rate (deposition current density) and film thickness (deposition time) on the kinetic roughening of the films were studied using AFM and roughness calculation. The data is consistent with a rather complex behaviour known as “anomalous scaling” where both local and large scale roughnesses show power law dependence on the film thickness. 相似文献

We propose and demonstrate a new wavelength-division-sampling technique with high temporal resolution. A discrete-time true-time delay generates multiwavelength near-transform-limited pulses from a supercontinuum source. Pulses sample the analog signal in an electro-optic modulator and are subsequently demultiplexed in a wavelength-division-multiplexing filter. A 100-Gsample/s experimental demonstration of this concept is presented. 相似文献

We study the magneto-optic (MO) Faraday rotation in a two-dimensional square-lattice photonic crystal with a central MO defect layer in the optical wavelength range. We show that when a TM plane wave is incident upon a photonic crystal, an enhancement of Faraday rotation takes place in a region where a resonance peak appears in the photonic bandgap. Coupled-mode theory is used to calculate Raman gain and spontaneous efficiency in silicon waveguides with cross-sectional areas ranging from 0.16 to 16 microm2. We find a monotonic increase in the Raman gain as the waveguide cross section decreases for the range of dimensions considered. It is also found that mode coupling between the Stokes modes is insignificant, and thus polarization multiplexing is possible. The results also demonstrate that for submicrometer waveguide dimensions the Einstein relation between spontaneous efficiency and stimulated gain no longer holds. 相似文献

Hard-disk simulations are used for two-dimensional rapid granular shear flows of circular disks between two rotating cylinders. The intermittency effects associated with the rate of the energy dissipation of collisions are studied. The statistics of intermittent signals of energy dissipation reveals that a power law governs the dynamics of rapid shear granular flows. A dynamical system approach based on the Gledzer-Ohkitani-Yamada shell model of turbulence is employed to reproduce signals for energy dissipation that are statistically consistent with those from simulations. The results suggest that rapid granular flows can be analyzed by appropriate turbulent models. 相似文献
