Cholesterol constitutes the major component of most gallstones. It was identified and determined, in gallstones, issued from eleven patients, by thermal analysis: differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), with the use of the melting temperature and enthalpy, thermogravimetry (TG), with the mass loss of water. Anhydrous cholesterol (ChA) was characterized by two endothermic peaks (polymorphic, melting) and cholesterol monohydrate (ChH) by two endothermic peaks (dehydration, melting), too. Cha needle and Chh plate crystals were observed under polarizing light microscopy. The numerous stones obtained from nine patients were cholesterol stones: the ChA was higher 45 and lower 96%. ChH was present in stones of three patients. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Guanine adsorbed onto a highly oriented pyrolytic graphite electrode was studied by MAC-Mode Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), and the electrochemical behaviour of the guanine layer was investigated with Electrochemical AFM. Guanine adsorbs spontaneously, without forming a well-packed structure, into nucleation spots, which are stable with time and cover the surface uniformly and almost completely. The process of guanine adsorption and nucleation can be controlled and the effect of altering the exposure time and varying the potential was investigated.  相似文献

Temperature dependent Raman measurements on insulating YH(3-delta) thin films are reported. With increasing temperature we observe a huge broadening of a line corresponding to an yttrium mode. This particular mode is assigned to a breathing vibration of the yttrium atoms around an octahedral hydrogen position. The line broadening is discussed in terms of a coupling between this breathing mode and the electron excited from an octahedral H vacancy into the 4d conduction band of Y, corroborating the strong correlation models for the electronic structure of YH3.  相似文献

We study the Mott transition, antiferromagnetism, and superconductivity in layered organic conductors using the cellular dynamical mean-field theory for the frustrated Hubbard model. A d-wave superconducting phase appears between an antiferromagnetic insulator and a metal for t'/t=0.3-0.7 or between a nonmagnetic Mott insulator (spin liquid) and a metal for t'/t>or=0.8, in agreement with experiments on layered organic conductors including kappa-(ET)2Cu2(CN)3. These phases are separated by a strong first-order transition. The phase diagram gives much insight into the mechanism for -wave superconductivity. Two predictions are made.  相似文献

One of the most important steps in designing more sensitive and stable DNA based biosensors is the immobilisation procedure of the nucleic acid probes on the transducer surface, while maintaining their conformational flexibility. MAC Mode AFM images in air demonstrated that the oligonucleotide sequences adsorb spontaneously on the electrode surface, showing the existence of pores in the adsorbed layer that reveal big parts of the electrode surface, which enables non-specific adsorption of other molecules on the uncovered areas. The electrostatic immobilisation onto a glassy carbon electrode followed by hybridisation with a complementary sequence and control with a non-complementary sequence was studied using differential pulse voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Changes in the oxidation currents of guanosine and adenosine were observed after hybridisation events as well as after control experiments. Modification of the double layer capacitance that took place after hybridisation or control experiments showed that non-specific adsorption of complementary or non-complementary sequences occur allowing the formation of a mixed multilayer.  相似文献

Upon addition of silica to aqueous solutions of poly(ethylene oxide)-b-poly(epsilon-caprolactone) copolymers (PEO-b-PCL) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), adsorption of the solutes occurs at the silica-water interface. The amount of the adsorbed constituents has been measured by the total concentration depletion method. Small-angle neutron scattering experiments (SANS) have been carried out to investigate the structure of the adsorbed layer. Although SDS is not spontaneously adsorbed onto hydrophilic silica, adsorption is observed in the presence of PEO-b-PCL diblocks, in relation to the relative concentration of the two compounds. Conversely, SDS has a depressive effect on the adsorption of the copolymer, whose structure at the interface is modified. Copolymer desorption is however never complete at high SDS content. These observations have been rationalized by the associative behavior of PEO-b-PCL and SDS in water.  相似文献

Using variational cluster perturbation theory we study the competition between d-wave superconductivity (dSC) and antiferromagnetism (AF) in the t-t(')-t(')-U Hubbard model. Large scale computer calculations reproduce the overall ground-state phase diagram of the high-temperature superconductors as well as the one-particle excitation spectra for both hole and electron doping. We identify clear signatures of the Mott gap as well as of AF and of dSC that should be observable in photoemission experiments.  相似文献
