We derive a test problem for evaluating the ability of time-steppingmethods to preserve the statistical properties of systems inmolecular dynamics. We consider a family of deterministic systemsconsisting of a finite number of particles interacting on acompact interval. The particles are given random initial conditionsand interact through instantaneous energy- and momentum-conservingcollisions. As the number of particles, the particle density,and the mean particle speed go to infinity, the trajectory ofa tracer particle is shown to converge to a stationary Gaussianstochastic process. We approximate this system by one describedby a system of ordinary differential equations and provide numericalevidence that it converges to the same stochastic process. Wesimulate the latter system with a variety of numerical integrators,including the symplectic Euler method, a fourth-order Runge-Kuttamethod, and an energyconserving step-and-project method. Weassess the methods' ability to recapture the system's limitingstatistics and observe that symplectic Euler performs significantlybetter than the others for comparable computational expense. 相似文献

Semi-empirical molecular orbital calculations were carried out for the compounds (C2H5)3As, (C2H5)3Ga and RAsH2 (R = C2H5, i-C3H7, i-C4H9, and t-C4H9) by using the CNDO/2-U program, and their capability of β-elimination reaction is compared on the basis of the torsion energy to the transition state, electrostatic interactions and orbital overlapping between the central atom and the β-hydrogen, and bond order of the metal-carbon, and carbon-hydrogen bond. In the comparison of (C2H5)3As with (C2H5)3Ga, we found that the β-elimination of (C2H5)3As could hardly be expected to take place in the thermal decomposition. The capability of β-elimination would be smaller in C2H5AsH2 than that in (C2H5)3As. Moreover when the ethyl group is replaced by a t-butyl group in RAsH2, the β-elimination reaction appears to become more difficult and a large possibility for a radical process is suggested. 相似文献

The piecewise linear method (PLM) based on time operator splitting is used to solve the unsteady compressible Euler equations describing the two-dimensional flow around and through a straight wall inlet placed stationary in a rapidly rotating supersonic flow. The PLM scheme is formulated as a Lagrangian step followed by an Eulerian remap. The inhomogeneous terms in the Euler equations written in cylindrical coordinates are first removed by Sod's method and the resulting set of equations is further reduced to two sets of one-dimensional Lagrangian equations, using time operator splitting. The numerically generated flow fields are presented for different values of the back pressure imposed at the downstream exit of the inlet nozzle. An oblique shock wave is formed in front of the almost whole portion of the inlet entrance, the incoming streamlines being deflected towards the higher pressure side after passing through the oblique shock wave and then bending down to the lower pressure side. A reverse flow appears inside the inlet nozzle owing to the recovery pressure of the incoming streams being lower than the back pressure of the inlet nozzle. 相似文献

An infinite row of periodically spaced, identical rigid circularcylinders is excited by an acoustic line source which is parallelto the generators of the cylinders. A method for calculatingthe scattered field accurately and efficiently is presented.When the cylinders are sufficiently close together, Rayleigh–Blochsurface waves that propagate energy to infinity along the arrayare excited. A formulation of an implicit characteristic-flux-averaging method for the unsteady Euler equations with real gas effects is presented. Incorporation of a real gas into a general equation of state is achieved by considering the pressure as a function of density and specific internal energy. The Ricmann solver as well as the flux-split algorithm are modified by introducing the pressure derivatives with respect to density and internal energy. Expressions for calculating the values of the flow variables for a real gas at the cell faces are derived. The Jacobian matrices and the eigenvectors are defined for a general equation of state. The solution of the system of equations is obtained by using a mesh-sequencing method for acceleration of the convergence. Finally, a test case for a simple form of equation of state displays the differences from the corresponding solution for an ideal gas. 相似文献

The hydrocarbon discovery prediction problem is important to firms having to make decisions about the deployment of scarce exploration resources. Traditional methods for estimating the discovery rate rely on the completion of time consuming simulation experiments. A rapid approximation that does not require the completion of simulation exists and has been shown to have some promise as a prediction tool. This paper investigates the accuracy of the approximation method under a wide variety of distributional and drilling efficiency assumptions. The results indicate that the approximation produces predictions close to those of simulation under most of the tested conditions. This suggests that resource exploration firms could conveniently use the method for a wide variety of planning purposes without incurring the same costs in time and personnel required for simulation. 相似文献
