We calculate the possible interaction between a superconductor and the static Earth’s gravitational fields, making use of the gravito-Maxwell formalism combined with the time-dependent Ginzburg–Landau theory. We try to estimate which are the most favorable conditions to enhance the effect, optimizing the superconductor parameters characterizing the chosen sample. Background: Carnosine is a dipeptide molecule (β-alanyl-l-histidine) with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-glycation, and chelating properties. It is used in exercise physiology as a food supplement to increase performance; however, in vitro evidence suggests that carnosine may exhibit anti-cancer properties. Methods: In this study, we investigated the effect of carnosine on breast, ovarian, colon, and leukemic cancer cell proliferation. We further examined U937 promonocytic, human myeloid leukemia cell phenotype, gene expression, and cytokine secretion to determine if these are linked to carnosine’s anti-proliferative properties. Results: Carnosine (1) inhibits breast, ovarian, colon, and leukemic cancer cell proliferation; (2) upregulates expression of pro-inflammatory molecules; (3) modulates cytokine secretion; and (4) alters U937 differentiation and phenotype. Conclusion: These effects may have implications for a role for carnosine in anti-cancer therapy. 相似文献

Investigation upon the solid–liquid equilibrium on solubility data of 6-propyl-2-thiouracil (PLT) in pure organic solvents is essential for separation and purifying in industry process. In this work, PLT solubility in nine neat solvents was experimentally determined at 278.15 K–323.15 K under P = 0.1 MPa. These selected solvents were tetrahydrofuran(THF), acetone, acetonitrile,1-butanol,1-pentanol, 2-butanol, methyl acetate, ethyl acetate,1-propyl acetate, respectively. Experiment results showed that solubility was consistent with temperature and decreased according to the order: THF > acetone>1-butanol≈1-pentanol> 2-butanol > methyl acetate > ethyl acetate>1-propyl acetate > acetonitrile. Solvent effect and Hansen solubility parameter (HSP) were incited to explain dissolution rule on solute. Four thermodynamic models (modi?ed Apelblat model, Van't model, λh model and NRTL model) were adopted to correlate PLT solubility and provide good correlations on basis of RD, ARD and RMSD. In addition, thermodynamic properties (ΔH°, ΔS° and ΔG°) of PLT dissolution process in pure solvents were discussed and proved to be endothermic, entropically driven and non-spontaneous process. 相似文献

The present study is aimed to investigate the degree of crystallinity of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) P(3HB) grafted with poly(2-aminoethyl methacrylate hydrochloride) (PAEMA) chains using WAXS, micro Raman, and FTIR spectroscopy. The samples were obtained by radiation induced graft polymerization of the monomer in the substrate using different solvents for comparison. The results of crystallinity are consistent with those obtained of lower crystallinity in grafting copolymer relative to the substrate P(3HB). The low crystallinity is directly related to the increase of the degree of grafting, meaning that although the P(3HB) amorphous region is grafted, the crystalline zone is also affected in some extent by the grafting process and the environment of the new molecule. Three different methods were surveyed to determine the variation of crystallinity degree with the grafting degree. It is shown that all methods provide linear relationships between these variables, but WAXS method was found more acceptable than the others (FTIR and Raman). A detailed characterization of the vibrational bands characteristic of amorphous and helical crystalline structure of the grafting copolymers are also highlighted. 相似文献

A cationic cobalt(III)‐catalyzed direct C?H amidation of unactivated (hetero)arenes and alkenes by using 1,4,2‐dioxazol‐5‐ones as the amidating reagent has been developed. This transformation proceeds efficiently under external oxidant‐free conditions with a broad substrate scope. The chlorination of peptides and proteins is an important posttranslational modification, which is a physiological signature of an enzyme myeloperoxidase and can serve as a potential biomarker of some diseases (Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, etc.). The quantification of the chlorinated peptides has been very challenging in part due to their low levels and artifacts associated with sample preparation. One of the most convenient and promising methods to detect and investigate the chlorinated peptides in the biological samples is the electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectrometry coupled to the fragmentation techniques (collision‐induced dissociation and electron capture dissociation/electron transfer dissociation). We have shown that if the chlorine anions are present in the solution, then the peptide can undergo the chlorination during the ESI ionization. The effect was found to depend on the values of electric potentials of metal parts of the ESI interface. It was found that the grounding of ESI syringe results in the formation of an additional electric loop leading to the electrolytic production of Cl2 and as a consequence the hypochlorous acid inside the ESI needle. Hypochlorous acid reacts with amino groups of peptides and proteins producing chloramine or causing the protein cleavage. In the paper, it is shown on the example of the solution of the several peptides in the presence of HCl that by manipulating the ESI syringe potential, it is possible to create complexes with up to five Cl atoms for sample peptides when the ESI is operated in the positive mode.
