In this article, we construct and analyze a residual-based a posteriori error estimator for a quadratic finite volume method (FVM) for solving nonlinear elliptic partial differential equations with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. We shall prove that the a posteriori error estimator yields the global upper and local lower bounds for the norm error of the FVM. So that the a posteriori error estimator is equivalent to the true error in a certain sense. Numerical experiments are performed to illustrate the theoretical results. 相似文献

ABSTRACTIn this paper, a stabilized space-time finite element method for solving linear parabolic evolution problems is analyzed. The proposed method is developed on a base of a space-time variational setting, that helps on the simultaneous and unified discretization in space and in time by finite element techniques. Stabilization terms are constructed by means of classical bubble spaces. Stability of the discrete problem with respect to an associated mesh dependent norm is proved, and a priori discretization error estimates are presented. The heat transfer phenomenon subject to thermos-diffusion effects convey important applications in the heating processes, extrusion systems, chemical processes and various engineering systems. The objective of current work is to observe the contribution of Soret and Dufour effects in oscillating shield for cross diffusion flow. The perpendicular shield with oscillating motion induced the flow. The magnitude of oscillations is assumed to be small so that laminar flow due to oscillating shield has been resulted. The motivations for addressing the thermos-diffusion phenomenon due to oscillating of shield are due to applications in oscillatory pumps, moving surface, metal detectors, power systems etc. The dimensionless problem is obtained via introducing the appropriate set of variables. The numerical outcomes are suggested by using the most interesting explicit finite difference scheme. The physical illustration for flow parameters is presented. Complex Mo,V‐based mixed oxides that crystallize in the orthorhombic M1‐type structure are promising candidates for the selective oxidation of small alkanes. The oxygen sublattice of such a complex oxide has been studied by annular bright field scanning transmission electron microscopy. The recorded micrographs directly display the local distortion in the metal oxygen octahedra. From the degree of distortion we are able to draw conclusions on the distribution of oxidation states in the cation columns at different sites. The results are supported by X‐ray diffraction and electron paramagnetic resonance measurements that provide integral details about the crystal structure and spin coupling, respectively. 相似文献

We have quantum chemically analyzed element−element bonds of archetypal HnX−YHn molecules (X, Y=C, N, O, F, Si, P, S, Cl, Br, I), using density functional theory. One purpose is to obtain a set of consistent homolytic bond dissociation energies (BDE) for establishing accurate trends across the periodic table. The main objective is to elucidate the underlying physical factors behind these chemical bonding trends. On one hand, we confirm that, along a period (e. g., from C−C to C−F), bonds strengthen because the electronegativity difference across the bond increases. But, down a period, our findings constitute a paradigm shift. From C−F to C−I, for example, bonds do become weaker, however, not because of the decreasing electronegativity difference. Instead, we show that the effective atom size (via steric Pauli repulsion) is the causal factor behind bond weakening in this series, and behind the weakening in orbital interactions at the equilibrium distance. We discuss the actual bonding mechanism and the importance of analyzing this mechanism as a function of the bond distance. 相似文献

The toxic properties of arsenic are well known. Honey has been widely used for monitoring this element. The present work reports a novel method for the determination of arsenic in honey, bees, pollen, and propolis, based on the coupling of microwave digestion and hydride generation. Method development included the quantitative reduction of arsenic(V) to arsenic(III), the acid used for dilution, and the complete removal of the gases following digestion. The method performance was satisfactory with recoveries between 83% and 111% and corresponding relative standard deviations between 3.1% and 24%. Among the 32 samples of honey, propolis, pollen, and honey bees analyzed, arsenic was detected in four out of six propolis samples at the method limit of detection (0.4?µg?g?1). The results indicate that propolis may be an efficient indicator for arsenic. 相似文献

We present two conjectures concerning the diameter of a direct power of a finite group. The first conjecture states that the diameter of Gn with respect to each generating set is at most n(|G|?rank(G)); and the second one states that there exists a generating set 𝒜, of minimum size, for Gn such that the diameter of Gn with respect to 𝒜 is at most n(|G|?rank(G)). The stochastic finite element method presented in this Note consists in representing in a probabilistic form the response of a linear mechanical system whose material properties and loading are random. Each input random variable is expanded into a Hermite polynomial series in standard normal random variables. The response (e.g., the nodal displacement vector) is expanded onto the so-called polynomial chaos.
