Template Reaction of Bis(acetylacetonato)-dioxo-molybdenum(VI) with Benzoylhydrazone By reaction of bis(acetylacetonato)-dioxo-molybdenum(VI) with benzoylhydrazine benzoylhydrazido(2?)-acetylacetonebenzoylhydrazonato(2?)-oxo-molybdenum(VI) was formed beside another species. 2,6-二氯靛酚钠动力学分光光度法测定西红柿及草莓中的抗坏血酸

本文提出用2，6－二氯靛酚纳（以下简写DIS）作氧化剂动力学分光光度测定L－抗坏血酸的新方法。DIS与L－抗坏血酸混合．在固定时间间隔于611nm处测得吸光度A值的变化（△A／△t）与抗坏血酸含量成线性关系。线性范围为0～12mg／L。在样品处理时采用偏磷酸作为提取剂，以减缓抗坏血酸被氧化的速度结果表明，该方法有较高灵敏度，且操作简便，试剂易得，容易推广，是测定水果和蔬菜中L-抗坏血酸的好方法。     

Investigation on relation between TL and OSL of Li2B4O7:Cu, In

Polycrystal Li₂B₄O₇ (LBO) doped with Cu and In was prepared and then sintered at different temperatures. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was applied to get the parameters of the LBO structure, thermoluminescence (TL) and optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) were measured, and a second-order exponential decay model was fitted to the OSL decay curves. The results indicate that the original number of OSL traps that have captured electroncs is linearly related with the sum of TL decay during the OSL process. Mean decay constant of OSL is related to the sintered temperature. The possible reason is that the sintered temperature affects the crystal sizes of the polycrystal, and consequently affects the stimulating lights’s intensity and the photoionization cross-section of the electrons, which have been captured by the traps. __________ Translated from Acta Scientiarum Naturalium Universitatis Sunyatseni, 2005, 44(4) (in Chinese)     

The Role of Carnitine Acyltransferases in the Maintenance of Cell Function

Summary. Carnitine acyltransferases catalyse equilibria between acyl-CoA esters and the respective acylcarnitines. Therefore, they act not only as pathway enzymes, but also as modulators of acyl-CoA concentrations within individual sub-cellular compartments. Because acyl-CoA esters are potent biologically active metabolites, carnitine acyltransferase activities are potentially able to affect a diverse range of physiological processes, ranging from insulin secretion, to appetite control, and insulin sensitivity of tissues. The distinctive subcellular distributions of the different types of carnitine acyltransferases also enables them to participate in the transfer of acyl moieties across intracellular membranes, and of particular acylcarnitine esters across the plasma membrane and into the plasma. Pharmacological strategies that make use of these properties to improve cell function are discussed.     

Ruthenium-catalyzed [2+2] cycloadditions between C1-substituted 7-oxanorbornadienes and alkynes

Ruthenium-catalyzed [2+2] cycloadditions between C1-substituted 7-oxanorbornadienes and alkynes were investigated. Most of the cycloadditions occurred smoothly at 65 °C, giving the cyclobutene cycloadducts in moderate to good yields. The C1 substituent showed strong effect on the regioselectivity (up to 110:1) of the cycloadditions.

Crystal Structure of a Supramolecular Complex Formed between 1-bromo-2-iodo-tetrafluoroethane and N,N,N′,N′-tetramethyl-ethylenediamine

X-ray analysis has revealed that N,N,N′,N′-tetramethyl-ethylenediamine 1 form donor–acceptor complex 3 with 1-bromo-2-iodo-tetrafluoroethane 2, in which the N X (X = Br, I) distances are longer than the average covalent bond length between X and N, but are also definitively shorter than the sum of the corresponding van der Waals radii of X and N, thus that indicating weak interactions between the nitrogen and bromine or iodine atoms. In our experimental section, a valuable method for recrystallization and collect X-ray data from crystals that easily exhibit decay and can be cracked is reported.     

Photocycloaddition of Cyclohex‐2‐enones to Penta‐1,2,4‐triene

Dihydrothiinone 9a undergoes photocycloaddition regioselectively to all three C?C bonds of penta‐1,2,4‐triene ( 10 ), the relative stabilities of the biradical intermediates determining the product distribution. In contrast, cyclohexenone 9b and dihydropyranone 9c afford more complex mixtures of bicyclo[4.2.0]octanones, which also turn out to be less stable on chromatographic workup, reflecting the higher strain due to the shorter bond lengths (C? O and C? C vs. C? S) in the six‐membered rings, respectively.     

Electronic structure of BeH2

Nonorthogonal single‐configuration and multiconfiguration ab initio calculations are carried out on the BeH₂ molecule in its equilibrium (D_∞h) geometry, using a highly optimized even‐tempered Slater‐type orbital (STO) basis set. The results are used as a basis for a discussion of the electronic structure of the molecule in modern‐VB terms. A value of R_e = 1.329 Å is obtained. Values are also obtained for the symmetric‐stretch harmonic frequency (2053 cm^?1), electric quadrupole moment (?5.60 Buckingham), and nuclear quadrupole coupling constants (?3.59 MHz for ⁹Be and 0.0915 MHz for ²H). © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
