Remote stereocontrol by the sulfinyl group: Mukaiyama aldol reactions of (S)-2-[2-(p-tolylsulfinyl)phenyl]acetaldehyde in the asymmetric synthesis of β-hydroxyacids and 1,3-diols

(S)-2-[2-(p-Tolylsulfinyl)phenyl]acetaldehyde reacts with different O-silylated ketenethioacetals in the presence of Yb(OTf)₃ yielding β-hydroxythioesters in high yields and diastereoselectivities. The obtained compounds were readily transformed into β-hydroxyacids and their corresponding diols. These Mukaiyama aldol reactions are a direct evidence of the ability of the sulfinyl group to control 1,5- and 1,6-asymmetric induction processes.     

Maximizing a Linear Fractional Function on a Pareto Efficient Frontier

We consider the problem of maximizing a linear fractional function on the Pareto efficient frontier of two other linear fractional functions. We present a finite pivoting-type algorithm that solves the maximization problem while computing simultaneously the efficient frontier. Application to multistage efficiency analysis is discussed. An example demonstrating the computational procedure is included.     

Investigations of Solid State Dynamics at the NRSSR Beamline at PETRA II. An Overview

The present status of the new nuclear resonance beamline PETRA 1 at HASYLAB, DESY, Hamburg is described. Besides an overview of the experimental setup some examples of recent experiments are given. Those cover the main applications, i.e., inelastic scattering from iron alloys and quasielastic scattering from glass-forming liquids. Structures and stability of Al<Subscript><Emphasis Type="Bold">7</Emphasis></Subscript>C and Al<Subscript><Emphasis Type="Bold">7</Emphasis></Subscript>N clusters

We report results of the atomic and electronic structures of Al₇C cluster using ab initio molecular dynamics with ultrasoft pseudopotentials and generalized gradient approximation. The lowest energy structure is found to be the one in which carbon atom occupies an interstitial position in Al₇ cluster. The electronic structure shows that the recent observation [Chem. Phys. Lett. 316, 31 (2000)] of magic behavior of Al₇C^- cluster is due to a large highest occupied and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (HOMO-LUMO) gap which makes Al₇C^- chemically inert. These results have further led us to the finding of a new neutral magic cluster Al₇N which has the same number of valence electrons as in Al₇C^- and a large HOMO-LUMO gap of 1.99 eV. Further, calculations have been carried out on (Al₇N)₂ to study interaction between magic clusters. Received 28 July 2001     

On Quantum Team Games

Recently Liu and Simaan (2004) convex static multi-team classical games have been introduced. Here they are generalized to both nonconvex, dynamic and quantum games. Puu's incomplete information dynamical systems are modified and applied to Cournot team game. The replicator dynamics of the quantum prisoner's dilemma game is also studied.

河流COD污染通量变化规律研究

分析了两种类型河流COD污染通量变化特征。汇水面积较大的河流 ,下游断面汛期COD通量远大于点源COD入河排污量 ,典型河流断面可达其 9～ 2 2倍。这类河流COD污染通量与河水流量呈显著正相关 ,r值在 0 .90 3～ 0 .997范围 ,文中给出线性回归方程。河流点源污染量变异系数一般在 30 %～ 6 0 %,面源可达 12 7%～ 2 0 7%。

世界银行贷款第四个贫困地区基础教育发展项目 ,自 1997年在我国西部贫困地区启动以来 ,取得了实实在在的成效。本文以云南省宣威市“贫四项目”实施效果为对象 ,进行了实事求是的调查与分析     

政治经济学课程教学改革的思考

在师范院校政教系政治经济学既是政治理论课又是专业基础课。搞好政治经济学的教学,不仅对于学生学习好后续课程具有重要的基础性意义,而且对于培养学生的理论兴趣、科学精神和科学方法、创新精神和实践能力也具有十分重要的作用。因此,作为政治经济学课教师必须不断改革,在教学内容、方法、手段上创新,大胆探索,勇于实践,才能使政治经济学的教学更加适应新世纪人才培养的需要。     

高中学生的物理成绩的调查与分析

经过两年广泛的调查，对调查结果进行统计，按教育统计学相关分析的计算方法，逐条求出各单元的相应系数。并对量化的部分结果进行了初步分析，指出了高中学生学习物理困难的主要原因，以及进行矫治的初步措施。该调查采集面广，样本大，计算方法科学，量化结果数据可靠，所反映的信息具有一定的代表性，可供中学物理同仁在教学改革中参考。
