Crowding with nearest neighbors replacement for multiple species niching and building blocks preservation in binary multimodal functions optimization

This paper introduces a novel niching scheme called the q-nearest neighbors replacement (q-NNR) method in the framework of the steady-state GAs (SSGAs) for solving binary multimodal optimization problems. A detailed comparison of the main niching approaches are presented first. The niching paradigm and difference of the selection-recombination genetic algorithms (GAs) and the recombination-replacement SSGAs are discussed. Then the q-NNR is developed by adopting special replacement policies based on the SSGAs; a Boltzmann scheme for dynamically sizing the nearest neighbors set is designed to achieve a speed-up and control the proportion of individuals adapted to different niches. Finally, experiments are carried out on a set of test functions characterized by deception, epistasis, symmetry and multimodality. The results are satisfactory and illustrate the effectivity and efficiency of the proposed niching method.     

Aggregation and stability analysis of nonlinear complex systems

The problem of stability of large-scale systems in critical cases is investigated. New form of aggregation for essentially nonlinear complex systems is suggested. With the help of this form the sufficient conditions of asymptotic stability are determined. The results obtained are used for the stability analysis of complex systems by the nonlinear approximation and for the investigation of absolute stability conditions for a certain class of nonlinear systems.

The signal/noise of an HMBC spectrum can depend dramatically upon the choice of acquisition and processing parameters

The effect of various acquisition and processing parameters on the sensitivity of HMBC spectra for typical organic molecules has been systematically investigated. For molecules in the 200–600 molecular weight range, an acquisition time of 0.2 to 0.4 s, a recycle time of no more than 1.0 s, optimization for ⁿJ_CH = 8 Hz and 512 time increments (with two‐ to fourfold linear prediction) are recommended. Some form of sine bell weighting along f₂ and either Gaussian or sine bell weighting along f₁ is suggested. The use of a 0.1‐s acquisition time and/or Gaussian or exponential weighting along f₂ can result in dramatic sensitivity loss, particularly for correlation peaks involving protons with complex splitting patterns, and should be avoided. The summarized equation for functions which are holomorphic in the exterior of a triangle

We consider the six-element summarized equation in the class of functions which are holomorphic in the exterior of a regular triangle and vanishing at infinity. We apply the method of integral equations and the theory of elliptic functions. Using the obtained results, we construct biorthogonal systems of holomorphic functions and study the problem of moments for integer functions of a finite degree.     

A generating function for sums of multiple zeta values and its applications

A generating function for specified sums of multiple zeta values is defined and a differential equation that characterizes this function is given. As applications, some relations for multiple zeta values over the field of rational numbers are discussed.

     

Some new proofs of modular relations for the Göllnitz-Gordon functions

In this paper, we find new proofs of modular relations for the Göllnitz-Gordon functions established earlier by S.-S. Huang and S.-L. Chen. We use Schröter’s formulas and some simple theta-function identities of Ramanujan to establish the relations. We also find some new modular relations of the same nature.
