The transverse and longitudinal mechanical properties of aramid fibers like Kevlar? 29 (K29) fibers are strongly linked to their highly oriented structure. Mechanical characterization at the single fiber scale is challenging especially when the diameter is as small as 15 µm. Longitudinal tensile tests on single K29 fibers and single fiber transverse compression test (SFTCT) have been developed. Our approach consists of coupling morphological observations and mechanical experiments with SFTCT analysis by comparing analytical solutions and finite element modeling. New insights on the analysis of the transverse direction response are highlighted. Systematic loading/unloading compression tests enable to experimentally determine a transverse elastic limit. Taking account of the strong anisotropy of the fiber, the transverse mechanical response sheds light on a skin/core architecture. More importantly, results suggest that the skin of the fiber, typically representing a shell of one micrometer in thickness, has a transverse apparent modulus of 0.2 GPa. That is around more than fifteen times lower than the transverse modulus of 3.0 GPa in the core. By comparison, the measured longitudinal modulus is about 84 GPa. A surgical site infection (SSI) is an infection that occurs after surgery in the part of the body where the surgery took place. An SSI may range from a spontaneously limited wound discharge within 7–10 days of an operation to a life‐threatening postoperative complication, such as a sternal infection after open heart surgery. Most SSIs are caused by contamination of an incision with microorganisms from the patient's own body during surgery. From the analytical point of view, the complex nature of these samples as well as the low concentrations of analytes require a system with high sensitivity and efficiency. Such situation requires a technique such as CE, which is a powerful and versatile separation technique that promises to rival HPLC when applied to the separation of both charged and neutral species. During the study, it has been demonstrated that CZE identifies characteristics of such groups of pathogens such as bacteria Gram (+) and different species of bacteria Gram (?), and also develops weekly individual profiles for patients after application of antibiotics. This was done in order to show the impact of antibiotic therapy in change “numbers” of bacteria present in the wound after surgery. The method proved to be the ideal straight specificity in the case of Escherichia coli (100%). Finally, analysis of the spectra and the second derivatives of the UV‐Vis spectra confirmed the similarity in the profiles and showed that the CZE is a great method for fast screening test in bacterial infection.  相似文献

The structural-phase state of the contact zone and the factors that influence on the strength of diamond retention in the diamond carbide composites were determined. Composites were obtained by the new hybrid technology that eliminates the reheating of the metalized coating. The elaborated technology combines the thermal diffusion metallization of a diamond and the sintering by the scheme of self-dosed impregnation in a one-stage technological cycle. By the methods of electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, and Raman spectroscopy the structural and phase characteristics of the interphase boundary were investigated. The improvement of chemical and mechanical adhesion between the diamond and carbide matrix was obtained. It was shown that the specific productivity of the samples with a metalized diamond component is 39% higher than those without metallization.  相似文献

This paper considers the formation of dead zones in the porous catalyst pellets due to the chemical reaction and diffusion. We established and investigated the model with nonisothermal reaction of fractional order and activated temperature-dependent diffusivity. The effects of process parameters, catalyst shape, and reaction and diffusion parameters on the formation of the dead zone are studied numerically and characterized by the critical Thiele modulus. The lower bounds for the critical Thiele modulus are derived analytically in terms of process parameters for exothermic and endothermic reactions and verified numerically. The critical Thiele modulus increases with increasing Arrhenius number for diffusion and decreasing Arrhenius number for reaction in the case of exothermic reactions, whereas the opposite trends hold for the endothermic reactions. The critical Thiele modulus also increases with increasing fractional reaction order as well as with decreasing energy generation function, and increasing Biot numbers for heat and mass transfer. Moreover, the critical Thiele modulus is the highest for spherical pellets and the lowest for pellets with planar shape.  相似文献

A total of six d13C minimum events,i.e.,VI,V,IV,III,II,and I,were observed via a stable carbon and oxygen isotope analysis of infaunal benthic foraminifera Uvigerina spp.in gravity core OS03-1 in the southeastern Okhotsk Sea over the last 180 ka.These events occurred at112–109,102–90,85–76,57–54,44–40,and 17–10 ka BP.The largest negative excursions reached 2.5%in event V and were greater than 1%in the other events.We proposed that all d13C minimum events were caused by the increase in sea surface water productivity,the weakened formation of Okhotsk Sea intermediate water,and the enhancement of the oxygen minimum zone.The negative excursions were unaffected by methane hydrate destabilization and subsequent methane release based on the results obtained by using archaeal lipid markers.  相似文献

This paper presents the development of a non-aqueous capillary electrophoresis method coupled to UV detection combined with multivariate curve resolution-alternating least-squares (MCR-ALS) to carry out the resolution and quantitation of a mixture of six phenolic acids in virgin olive oil samples. p-Coumaric, caffeic, ferulic, 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic, vanillic and 4-hydroxyphenilacetic acids have been the analytes under study. All of them present different absorption spectra and overlapped time profiles with the olive oil matrix interferences and between them. The modeling strategy involves the building of a single MCR-ALS model composed of matrices augmented in the temporal mode, namely spectra remain invariant while time profiles may change from sample to sample. So MCR-ALS was used to cope with the coeluting interferences, on accounting the second order advantage inherent to this algorithm which, in addition, is able to handle data sets deviating from trilinearity, like the data herein analyzed. The method was firstly applied to resolve standard mixtures of the analytes randomly prepared in 1-propanol and, secondly, in real virgin olive oil samples, getting recovery values near to 100% in all cases. The importance and novelty of this methodology relies on the combination of non-aqueous capillary electrophoresis second-order data and MCR-ALS algorithm which allows performing the resolution of these compounds simplifying the previous sample pretreatment stages.  相似文献

This article investigates the chaos control problem for the fractional‐order chaotic systems containing unknown structure and input nonlinearities. Two types of nonlinearity in the control input are considered. In the first case, a general continuous nonlinearity input is supposed in the controller, and in the second case, the unknown dead‐zone input is included. In each case, a proper switching adaptive controller is introduced to stabilize the fractional‐order chaotic system in the presence of unknown parameters and uncertainties. The control methods are designed based on the boundedness property of the chaotic system's states, where, in the proposed methods the nonlinear/linear dynamic terms of the fractional‐order chaotic systems are assumed to be fully unknown. The analytical results of the mentioned techniques are proved by the stability analysis theorem of fractional‐order systems and the adaptive control method. In addition, as an application of the proposed methods, single input adaptive controllers are adopted for control of a class of three‐dimensional nonlinear fractional‐order chaotic systems.
