Computational experience with general equilibrium problems

We report on computational experience with an implementation of three algorithms for the general economic equilibrium problem. As a result we get that the projection algorithm for variational inequalities increases the size of solvable models by a factor of 5–10 in comparison with the classical homotopy method. As a third approach we implemented a simulated annealing heuristic which might be suitable to estimate equilibria for very large models.Supported by the German Research Association (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, SFB 303).     

Thermal decomposition of transition metal carboxylates

Dynamics of changes in microstresses during thermal decomposition of Cu(HCOO)₂ crystals and their effect on the thermal decomposition kinetics were studied by IR spectroscopy at 105 to 120 °C. The formation of solid intermediate HCOOCu was observed, and the dynamics of its accumulation was followed. Kinetic regularities of transformation of HCOO groups were compared with those for gas evolution.For Communication 1, see Ref. 1.Translated from Izvestiya va Akademii Nauk. In this article we consider partitioned Runge-Kutta (PRK) methods for Hamiltonian partial differential equations (PDEs) and present some sufficient conditions for multi-symplecticity of PRK methods of Hamiltonian PDEs.

In the present paper,we investigate the well-posedness of the global solution for the Cauchy problem of generalized long-short wave equations.Applying Kato's method for abstract quasi-linear evolution equations and a priori estimates of solution,we get the existence of globally smooth solution.

关于简化Newton方法收敛性的注记

在假设算子方程解存在的前提下,给出了以解为中心的一个球域,证明了当初始点落到这个球域时,用于判断简化Newton方法收敛性的Kantorovich定理的条件必然满足,从而由简化Newton方法产生的迭代序列收敛.

New numerical methods and some applied aspects of the p-regularity theory

The theory of p-regularity is applied to optimization problems and to singular ordinary differential equations (ODE). The special variant of the method of the modified Lagrangian function proposed by Yu.G. Evtushenko for constrained optimization problems with inequality constraints is justified on the basis of the 2-factor transformation. An implicit function theorem is given for the singular case. This theorem is used to show the existence of solutions to a boundary value problem for a nonlinear differential equation in the resonance case. New numerical methods are proposed including the p-factor method for solving ODEs with a small parameter.
