Dynamics of a family of transcendental meromorphic functions having rational Schwarzian derivative

In the present paper, a class F of critically finite transcendental meromorphic functions having rational Schwarzian derivative is introduced and the dynamics of functions in one parameter family is investigated. It is found that there exist two parameter values λ^∗=?(0)>0 and , where and is the real root of ?^′(x)=0, such that the Fatou sets of fλ(z) for λ=λ^∗ and λ=λ∗∗ contain parabolic domains. A computationally useful characterization of the Julia set of the function fλ(z) as the complement of the basin of attraction of an attracting real fixed point of fλ(z) is established and applied for the generation of the images of the Julia sets of fλ(z). Further, it is observed that the Julia set of fλ∈K explodes to whole complex plane for λ>λ∗∗. Finally, our results found in the present paper are compared with the recent results on dynamics of one parameter families λtanz, [R.L. Devaney, L. Characteristics and structures of weak efficient surfaces of production possibility sets

This paper studies the characteristics and structure of the weak surface of the production possibility set. We apply techniques and methods of transferring a polyhedral cone from its intersection form to its sum form, identify an intersection representation of the production possibility set. We give the structure theorem of weak surface of the production possibility set, which includes three complementary slackness conditions. We define the input weak efficiency and output weak efficiency for different DEA models according to the representation of the intersection form. It investigates the characteristics of the weak surfaces, and proves the structure theorems of input weak DEA efficiency and output weak DEA efficiency. The structure theorems establish weighted combination of inputs and outputs that are weak DEA efficient. Numerical examples are provided for illustration.     

On a question of Gross

Using the notion of weighted sharing of sets we prove two uniqueness theorems which improve the results proved by Fang and Qiu [H. Qiu, M. Fang, A unicity theorem for meromorphic functions, Bull. Malaysian Math. Sci. Soc. 25 (2002) 31-38], Lahiri and Banerjee [I. Lahiri, A. Banerjee, Uniqueness of meromorphic functions with deficient poles, Kyungpook Math. J. 44 (2004) 575-584] and Yi and Lin [H.X. Yi, W.C. Lin, Uniqueness theorems concerning a question of Gross, Proc. Japan Acad. Ser. A 80 (2004) 136-140] and thus provide an answer to the question of Gross [F. Gross, Factorization of meromorphic functions and some open problems, in: Proc. Conf. Univ. Kentucky, Lexington, KY, 1976, in: Lecture Notes in Math., vol. 599, Springer, Berlin, 1977, pp. 51-69], under a weaker hypothesis.     

Waring-Goldbach Problem for Unlike Powers

In this paper, it is proved that with at most O（N65/66） exceptions, all even positive integers up to N are expressible in the form p^2 2＋p^3 3＋p^4 4＋p^5 5. This improves a recent result O（N19193/19200＋ε） due to C. Bauer.     

Selection Principles and Sierpinski Sets

We show that a set of real numbers is a Sierpinski set if, and only if, it satisfies a selection property similar to the familiar Menger property.     

Asymptotic Behavior of Solutions to a Class of Systems of Delay Differential Equations

The authors investigate the asymptotic behavior of solutions to a class of systems of delay differential equations. It is shown that every bounded solution of such a class of systems tends to a constant vector as t→∞. Our results improve and extend some corresponding ones already known.     

THE DIMENSION FOR RANDOM SUB-SELF-SIMILAR SET

In this article,the Hausdorff dimension and exact Hausdorff measure function of any random sub-self-similar set are obtained under some reasonable conditions.Several examples are given at the end.     

A note on integral-convexity in Banach spaces

In the present paper we focus on a generalization of the notion of integral convexity. This concept, introduced in [J.Y. Wang, Y.M. Ma, The integral convexity of sets and functionals in Banach spaces, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 295 (2004) 211-224] by replacing, in the definition of classical notion of convexity, the sum by the integral, has interesting applications in optimal control problems. By using, instead of Bochner integral, a more general vector integral, that of Pettis, we obtain some results on integral-extreme points of subsets of a Banach space stronger than those given in [J.Y. Wang, Y.M. Ma, The integral convexity of sets and functionals in Banach spaces, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 295 (2004) 211-224]. Finally, a natural example coming from measure theory is included, in order to reflect the relationships between different kinds of integral convexity.
