Microencapsulation of astiban acid for the treatment ofSchistosomiasis mansoni

Schistosomiasis is among the top five diseases in the world in terms of morbidity, affecting perhaps 200 million people in tropical and subtropical countries. Antischistosomal drugs are toxic and rapidly metabolized. Hence, they must be given in a number of spaced doses. In spite of this there are severe side effects leading to poor patient compliance. This is an ideal situation for the application of sustained drug release to avoid the toxic peak concentration of drug. This study was carried out using Astiban acid, an antimonial drug that is effective againstS. mansoni. Unfortunately, the drug is sufficiently soluble that 50 mg will dissolve in 100 mL water in less than a minute. To permit sustained release of intramuscularly injected drug, microcapsules of astiban acid in poly(d,l-lactic acid) were formed by coacervation. Release studies show that an appreciable fraction of the drug is available at the surface for rapid solution. After this surface drug dissolves, the remaining drug is released slowly with half-times of many hours. After the initial burst, the release of drug follows Higuchi’s equation up to approximately 80% release, with exponentially decreasing release rates thereafter.     

Thermoanalytical characterization of potentially schistosomicide polymeric derivatives

Oxamniquine (OXA) is a schistosomicide agent that causes some adverse effects in central nervous system. Intending to improve OXA therapeutic properties, a polymeric prodrug was designed. Currently, there is an increasing interest of thermal analytical techniques in the pharmaceutical area, so differential thermal analysis (DTA) and thermogravimetry (TG) were carried out to evaluate the thermal behavior of OXA, polymethacrylic acid (PMA), [poly(methacrylic-co-oxamniquine methacrylate)acid] (PMOXA) and physical mixture (OXA+PMA). The thermoanalytical profile of the physical mixture showed characteristic events of the thermal decomposition of OXA and PMA. Distinctly, PMOXA DTA curve did not show an endothermic peak at 148.5°C indicating that the drug was incorporated into the polymeric system. These results were corroborated by the IR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction data. This revised version was published online in August 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.

日本血吸虫病的传播动力学模型(Ⅲ)——流行模式的转化规律及计算机数值模拟

本文对模型各参数的变化与血吸虫病三种基本流行模式间的转化规律进行了深入探讨和定量估计.在此基础上,分别针对在实际工作中经常碰到的流行情况进行了计算机动力学模拟研究,发现人畜同步化疗效果要明显优于单纯只治人或单纯只部分灭螺的效果,而且人群接触疫水频度的降低可能是控制血吸虫病流行的一有效措施.     

血吸虫病患者的心理特征及护理对策

目的:通过对血吸虫病患者的心理特征分析,探讨其心理护理对策。方法:针对不同类型血吸虫病患者的心理特征,提出相应的心理护理对策。结果:通过病原治疗及针对性的心理护理,收治的126例血吸虫病患者治愈出院。2例晚期血吸虫病患者经内科治疗好转后,转外科进行手术治疗。结论:加强心理护理工作不仅对提高护理质量十分重要,而且对提高血吸虫病治疗效果起到较好作用。     

一种改良的基于RS/GIS技术的鄱阳湖区钉螺滋生地获取方法研究

运用遥感影像处理软件对鄱阳湖区丰水期与枯水期影像进行监督分类获取水体范围,两者相减获取“冬陆夏水”区;在“冬陆夏水”区内计算归一化植被指数(NDVI)并提取植被覆盖区;提取鄱阳湖区13～ 18 m的高程范围;将提取的区域与查螺数据进行空间叠加对比分析.在“冬陆夏水”区的13 ～18 m高程范围内,归一化植被指数(NDVI)大于0.17的区域为适宜钉螺孳生的环境;经检验,计算结果得出的钉螺孳生地栅格级准确率达到70.91;.研究表明,鄱阳湖区“冬陆夏水”范围和植被覆盖范围广大,预测模型中增加适宜钉螺孳生的高程信息将提高计算结果的精确度.
