Surface structure of quark stars with magnetic fields

We investigate the impact of magnetic fields on the electron distribution of the electrosphere of quark stars. For moderately strong magnetic fields of B ∼ 10¹³ G, quantization effects are generally weak due to the large number density of electrons at surface, but can nevertheless affect the photon emission properties of quark stars. We outline the main observational characteristics of quark stars as determined by their surface emission, and briefly discuss their formation in explosive events termed as quark-novae, which may be connected to the r-process.

Concentration inequalities for random fields via coupling

We present a new and simple approach to concentration inequalities in the context of dependent random processes and random fields. Our method is based on coupling and does not use information inequalities. In case one has a uniform control on the coupling, one obtains exponential concentration inequalities. If such a uniform control is no more possible, then one obtains polynomial or stretched-exponential concentration inequalities. Our abstract results apply to Gibbs random fields, both at high and low temperatures and in particular to the low-temperature Ising model which is a concrete example of non-uniformity of the coupling.      

Inner-sphere oxidation of iron(II) by tris(malonato)cobaltate(III)

The kinetics of oxidation of Fe²⁺ by [Co(C₃H₂O₄)₃]^3? in acidic solutions at 605 nm showed a simple first-order dependence in each reactant concentration. The second-order rate constant dependence on [H⁺] is in accordance with eqn (i) k₂ = k′₂ + k₃[H⁺] (i) where k′₂ and k₃ have values of 73.4 ± 14.0 M ^?1 s^?1 and 353 ± 41 M^?2 s^?1, respectively, at 1.0 M ionic strength (NaClO₄) and 25°C. At 310 nm the formation and decomposition of an intermediate, believed to be [FeC₃H₂O₄]⁺, was observed. The increase in the rate of oxidation with increasing [H⁺] was interpreted in terms of a “one-ended” dissociation mechanism which facilitates chelation of Fe₂₊ by the carbonyl oxygens of malonate in the transition state.     

Synthetic studies toward the immunosuppressant FR901483. Facile construction of the azatricyclic skeleton

A concise synthesis of the azatricyclic core structure of FR901483, a potent immunosuppressant, has been accomplished. The key elements of the approach involve a nucleophilic addition to an acyl iminium ion, a ring closing metathesis and a lactone-lactam rearrangement to provide the tricyclic structure.     

晶界内耗研究的新进展

由不同取向差的纯Al双晶的内耗实验观察到，不同类型晶界的弛豫参量有明屁差别。用耦合模型对内耗数据的分析表明，小角度晶界内耗的基本机制是位错攀移，而大角度晶界内耗的基本机制是晶界扩散。在此基础上，对多晶中晶界内耗的一些特征也作了解释。     

神经网络在工程爆破应力波规律探讨中的应用

采用BP（Back Propagation)前馈人工神经网络模型，对工程爆破中柱状震源的自由场应力波传播规律进行了探讨。结果表明：利用人神经网络模型的非线性映射功能，可以较好地给出工程爆破引起的近区自由场力学规律，对于同类型问题的研究，也有着很重要的意义。     

瑞香狼毒防治仓储害虫活性物质的研究

瑞香狼毒 (ＳｔｅｌｌｅｒａｃｈａｍｅｊａｓｍｅＬ .)又名断肠草 ,为瑞香科狼毒属植物。瑞香狼毒在我国大部分地区均有分布 ,盛产于四川、河北、山西等地。其性苦、平、辛、有毒 ,有逐水、祛痰、破积、杀虫之功效。据文献报道 ,瑞香狼毒除了可作为中药外 ,还可以用来防治菜青虫、蚜虫、松毛虫 ,甚至可以用来杀蚊、驱蝇、灭蛆等。作者前期工作曾以瑞香狼毒根为材料 ,初步研究了根及根粉粗提物对米象、玉米象、谷蠹的防治效果。发现瑞香狼毒对米象、玉米象、谷蠹等仓储害虫均有较好的防治功效[1] 。本文以米象为试虫 ,以生物活性跟踪法对瑞…
