For a recursively defined sequence u : = (un) of integers, we describe the subgroup tu (??) of the elements x of the circle group ?? satisfying limn unx = 0. More attention is dedicated to the sequences satisfying a secondorder recurrence relation. In this case, we show that the size and the free‐rank of tu (??) is determined by the asymptotic behaviour of the ratios qn = (un /un –1) and we extend previous results of G. Larcher, C. Many linear recurrence relations for combinatorial numbers depending on two indices – like, e.g. the Stirling numbers – can be transformed into a sequence of linear differential equations (of first order) for the corresponding generating functions. In this paper, the most general sequence of such differential equations is considered where the coefficient functions are assumed to be analytic. Using an Ansatz of factoring the sought-for solution into the product of two functions each satisfying a particular associated differential equation, an explicit solution is derived. Some concrete examples are treated. Furthermore, first results for sequences of linear differential equations of second-order are presented and the difficulties of treating the higher order case within the above mentioned method are discussed. 相似文献

Introducing the discrete probability distribution by means of the Prabhakar (or the three-parameter Mittag–Leffler) function, we establish explicit expressions for raw and factorial moments and also general fractional-order moments. Applying an elementary moment inequality we obtain functional upper bounds for the Turánian difference for Prabhakar function. The purpose of this paper is to study the global stability properties of equilibria for age‐dependent epidemiological models in presence of recurrence phenomenon. In these systems, the recurrence rate depends on asymptomatic–infection–age. The models are appropriate for human herpes virus (HSV‐1 and HSV‐2) and varicella‐zoster virus. We derived explicit formulas for the basic reproductive number, which completely characterizes the global behaviour of solutions to the models: if the basic reproductive number is less than or equal to unity, the disease will die out; if the basic reproductive number is greater than unity, the disease will be persistent. We construct several expansions of the solutions of the confluent Heun equation in terms of the incomplete Beta functions and the Appell generalized hypergeometric functions of two variables of the first kind. The coefficients of different expansions obey four-, five-, or six-term recurrence relations that are reduced to ones involving less number of terms only in a few exceptional cases.
