A version of Orlicz-Pettis Theorem for quasi-homogeneous operator space

A version of Orlicz-Pettis Theorem is established for multiplier convergent series and quasi-homogeneous operator. Applications to spaces of quasi-homogeneous operators are given.     

On sums of degrees of the partial quotients in continued fraction expansions of Laurent series

For any formal Laurent series with coefficients cn lying in some given finite field, let x=[a₀(x);a₁(x),a₂(x),…] be its continued fraction expansion. It is known that, with respect to the Haar measure, almost surely, the sum of degrees of partial quotients grows linearly. In this note, we quantify the exceptional sets of points with faster growth orders than linear ones by their Hausdorff dimension, which covers an earlier result by J. Wu.     

Universality properties of Taylor series inside the domain of holomorphy

It is proven that the Taylor series of functions holomorphic in C_∞?{1} generically have certain universality properties on small sets outside the unit disk. Moreover, it is shown that such sets necessarily are polar sets.     

Asymptotic formulae for eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of q‐Sturm‐Liouville problems

We investigate the asymptotic behavior of the eigenvalues and the eigenfunctions of q‐Sturm‐Liouville eigenvalue problems. For this aim we study the asymptotic behavior of q‐trigonometric functions as well as fundamental sets of solutions of the associated second order q‐difference equation. As in classical Sturm‐Liouville theory, the eigenvalues behave like zeros of q‐trigonometric functions and the eigenfunctions behave like q‐trigonometric functions. © 2011 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Analytical analysis for large-amplitude oscillation of a rotational pendulum system

This paper deals with large amplitude oscillation of a nonlinear pendulum attached to a rotating structure. By coupling of the well-known Maclaurin series expansion and orthogonal Chebyshev polynomials, the governing differential equation with sinusoidal nonlinearity can be reduced to form a cubic-quintic Duffing equation. The resulting Duffing type temporal problem is solved by an analytic iteration approach. Two approximate formulas for the frequency (period) and the periodic solution are established for small as well as large amplitudes of motion. Illustrative examples are selected and compared to those analytical and exact solutions to substantiate the accuracy and correctness of the approximate analytical approach.     

Theory of fractional order in generalized thermoelectric MHD

A new mathematical model of thermoelectric MHD theory has been constructed in the context of a new consideration of heat conduction with fractional orders. This model is applied to Stokes’ first problem for a conducting fluid with heat sources. Laplace transforms and state-space techniques [1] will be used to obtain the general solution for any set of boundary conditions. According to the numerical results and its graphs, conclusion about the new theory has been constructed. Some comparisons have been shown in figures to estimate the effects of the fractional order parameters on all the studied fields.     

A collocation approach for the numerical solution of certain linear retarded and advanced integrodifferential equations with linear functional arguments

This article presents a Taylor collocation method for the approximate solution of high‐order linear Volterra‐Fredholm integrodifferential equations with linear functional arguments. This method is essentially based on the truncated Taylor series and its matrix representations with collocation points. Some numerical examples, which consist of initial and boundary conditions, are given to show the properties of the technique. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A polynomial expression for the Hilbert series of the quotient ring of diagonal coinvariants

A special case of Haiman?s identity [M. Haiman, Vanishing theorems and character formulas for the Hilbert scheme of points in the plane, Invent. Math. 149 (2002) 371–407] for the character of the quotient ring of diagonal coinvariants under the diagonal action of the symmetric group yields a formula for the bigraded Hilbert series as a sum of rational functions in q,t. In this paper we show how a summation identity of Garsia and Zabrocki for Macdonald polynomial Pieri coefficients can be used to transform Haiman?s formula for the Hilbert series into an explicit polynomial in q,t with integer coefficients. We also provide an equivalent formula for the Hilbert series as the constant term in a multivariate Laurent series.     

Universal series induced by approximate identities and some relevant applications

We prove the existence of series ∑a_nψ_n, whose coefficients (a_n) are in ∩_p>1?^p and whose terms (ψ_n) are translates by rational vectors in R^d of a family of approximations to the identity, having the property that the partial sums are dense in various spaces of functions such as Wiener’s algebra W(C₀,?¹), C_b(R^d), C₀(R^d), L^p(R^d), for every p∈[1,∞), and the space of measurable functions. Applying this theory to particular situations, we establish approximations by such series to solutions of the heat and Laplace equations as well as to probability density functions.
