It is known that an embedded essential surface F in a hyperbolic manifold M remains essential in Dehn filling spaces M(γ) for most slopes γ on a torus boundary component T of M. The main theorem of this paper is to generalize this result to immersed surfaces. More explicitly, if an immersed essential surface F has coannular slopes β1,…,βn on T, then there is a constant K such that F remains essential in M(γ) when Δ(γ,βi)>K for all i. It will also be shown that all but finitely many Freedman tubings of a geometrically finite surface in M are π1-injective.  相似文献

We provide a proof of Connes’ formula for a representative of the Hochschild class of the Chern character for (p,∞)-summable spectral triples. Our proof is valid for all semifinite von Neumann algebras, and all integral p?1. We employ the minimum possible hypotheses on the spectral triples.  相似文献

In the present paper we generalize the divide lying in the unit disk, introduced by A'Campo, to compact, oriented, smooth surfaces, and prove a fibration theorem for generalized divides. As a consequence, we will show that, for any link L in the tangent circle bundle Y to the compact surface, there exists an additional knot K such that the link LK is the binding of a “positive” open book decomposition of Y.  相似文献

The aim of this note is to generalize and apply results on matrix continued fractions representing the solution of discrete matrix Riccati equations. Assuming uniform bounds for the norm of the matrix coefficients of the continued fraction, the minimal and maximal solutions of the corresponding algebraic Riccati equation can be accurately enclosed.  相似文献

We consider the following natural questions: when a topological group G has a first countable remainder, when G has a remainder of countable tightness? This leads to some further questions on the properties of remainders of topological groups. Let G be a topological group. The following facts are established. 1. If Gω has a first countable remainder, then either G is metrizable, or G is locally compact. 2. If G has a countable network and a first countable remainder, then either G is separable and metrizable, or G is σ-compact. 3. Under (MA+¬CH) every topological group with a countable network and a first countable remainder is separable and metrizable. Some new open problems are formulated.  相似文献

Results of H. Cartan about holomorphic automorphisms on bounded domains are generalized to the case of hyperbolic manifolds in the sense of Kobayashi. In this setting, we give an identity theorem together with its topological version. We show also that a sequence of automorphisms which converges uniformly on some nonempty open set, has a limit on the whole space which is an automorphism. At the end of the paper, conditions are given for the sequence of iterates of a self holomorphic map in order to be an automorphism.  相似文献

In 1957 Robert Ellis proved that a group with a locally compact Hausdorff topology T making all translations continuous also has jointly continuous multiplication and continuous inversion, and is thus a topological group. The theorem does not apply to locally compact asymmetric spaces such as the reals with addition and the topology of upper open rays. We first show a bitopological Ellis theorem, and then introduce a generalization of locally compact Hausdorff, called locally skew compact, and a topological dual, Tk, to obtain the following asymmetric Ellis theorem which applies to the example above:Whenever (X,⋅,T) is a group with a locally skew compact topology making all translations continuous, then multiplication is jointly continuous in both (X,⋅,T) and (X,⋅,Tk), and inversion is a homeomorphism between (X,T) and (X,Tk).This generalizes the classical Ellis theorem, because T=Tk when (X,T) is locally compact Hausdorff.  相似文献

We show that the existence of a non-metrizable compact subspace of a topological group G often implies that G contains an uncountable supersequence (a copy of the one-point compactification of an uncountable discrete space). The existence of uncountable supersequences in a topological group has a strong impact on bounded subsets of the group. For example, if a topological group G contains an uncountable supersequence and K is a closed bounded subset of G which does not contain uncountable supersequences, then any subset A of K is bounded in G?(K?A). We also show that every precompact Abelian topological group H can be embedded as a closed subgroup into a precompact Abelian topological group G such that H is bounded in G and all bounded subsets of the quotient group G/H are finite. This complements Ursul's result on closed embeddings of precompact groups to pseudocompact groups.  相似文献

The purpose in this paper is to prove that there exists a lattice on certain solvable Lie groups and to construct a symplectic solvmanifold with the Hard Lefschetz property, and a locally conformal Kähler solvmanifold. We see that minimal models for these solvmanifolds are formal.  相似文献
