Nonlinear Schrödinger equations with symmetric multi-polar potentials

This paper deals with a class of nonlinear elliptic equations involving a critical power-nonlinearity as well as a potential featuring multiple inverse square singularities. When the poles form a symmetric structure, it is natural we wonder how the symmetry affects such mutual interaction. The present paper means to study this aspect from the point of view of the existence of solutions inheriting the same symmetry properties as the set of singularities. A note on exponent of convergence of zeros of entire functions

If f(z) is an entire function with ρ ₁ > 0 as its exponent of convergence of zeros and if 0 ≤ α < ρ ₁, then we prove the existence of entire functions each having α as its exponent of convergence of zeros.      

Persistence of nonhyperbolic measures for <Emphasis Type="Italic">C</Emphasis><Superscript>1</Superscript>-diffeomorphisms

In the space of diffeomorphisms of an arbitrary closed manifold of dimension ≥ 3, we construct an open set such that each difteomorphism in this set has an invariant ergodic measure with respect to which one of its Lyapunov exponents is zero. These difteomorphisins are constructed to have a partially hyperbolic invariant set on which the dynamics is conjugate to a soft skew product with the circle as the fiber. It is the central Lyapunov exponent that proves to be zero in this case, and the construction is based on an analysis of properties of the corresponding skew products.

Critical exponents of discrete groups and -spectrum

Let be a noncompact semisimple Lie group and an arbitrary discrete, torsion-free subgroup of . Let be the bottom of the spectrum of the Laplace-Beltrami operator on the locally symmetric space , and let be the exponent of growth of . If has rank , then these quantities are related by a well-known formula due to Elstrodt, Patterson, Sullivan and Corlette. In this note we generalize that relation to the higher rank case by estimating from above and below by quadratic polynomials in . As an application we prove a rigiditiy property of lattices.

     

Grow-up rate of solutions for a supercritical semilinear diffusion equation

We study solutions of the Cauchy problem for a supercritical semilinear parabolic equation which converge to a singular steady state from below as t→∞. We show that the grow-up rate of such solutions depends on the spatial decay rate of initial data.
