The Application of Genetic Algorithms and Multidimensional Distinguishing Model in Forecasting and Evaluating Credits for Mobile Clients

To solve the arrearage problem that puzzled most of the mobile corporations, we propose an approach to forecast and evaluate the credits for mobile clients, devising a method that is of the coalescence of genetic algorithm and multidimensional distinguishing model. In the end of this paper, a result of a testing application in Zhuhai Branch, GMCC was provided. The precision of the forecasting and evaluation of the client's credit is near 90%. This study is very significant to the mobile communication corporation at all levels. The popularization of the techniques and the result would produce great benefits of both society and economy.     

Polarization Mode Dispersion in High-Speed Optical Communication Systems

We review the research progress concerning some fundamental issues related to polarization-mode dispersion (PMD) in high-speed fiber-optic transmission systems. We pay particular attention to issues such as the PMD-induced pulse broadening, PMD measurement and emulation, as well as PMD compensation. An electrical equalization technique based on a transversal filter and an optical technique based on a nonlinear chirped fiber Bragg gratings for PMD compensation will be discussed.

Mueller Matrix Analysis of PDL Components

A detailed Mueller-Stokes analysis of an arbitrary elliptical dichroic polarizer is presented. Explicit expressions for the Jones matrix, the Stokes parameters, and the Mueller matrix for a distributed and localized dichroic polarizer acting as a polarization-dependent loss (PDL) element are derived. Application to wavelength-dependent PDL elements is discussed. The Poincare sphere representation and the application of the Mueller matrices for the study of randomly oriented concatenated PDL elements and PDL vector measurement are addressed.     

Design of ODMA Digital Waveforms Using Non-Convex Optimization Methods

This paper presents a new approach for the design of a set of orthogonal digital filters which can be used as message-carrying waveforms in orthogonality division multiple access (ODMA) communication systems. The filter set design problem is formulated as a constrained L ₂ space optimization problem. For bandwidth efficiency, all the digital filters in the set are constrained to have approximately the same desired spectral shapes in a prescribed passband; To minimize intersymbol interference and co-channel interference, all the digital filters in the set are constrained to have low values of auto-correlation at nonzero translates of multiple symbol interval and low values of cross-correlation at all translates of multiple symbol interval. Methods for solving the proposed non-convex optimization problem are outlined. Numerical results are presented to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed method.
