We consider time‐dependent thermal fluid structure interaction. The respective models are the compressible Navier–Stokes equations and the nonlinear heat equation. A partitioned coupling approach via a Dirichlet–Neumann method and a fixed point iteration is employed. As a reference solver, a previously developed efficient time‐adaptive higher‐order time integration scheme is used. To improve on this, we work on reducing the number of fixed point coupling iterations. Using the idea of extrapolation based on data given from the time integration by deriving such methods for SDIRK2, it is possible to reduce the number of fixed point iterations further by up to a factor of two with linear extrapolation performing better than quadratic. This leads to schemes that can use less than two iterations per time step. Furthermore, widely used vector extrapolation methods for convergence acceleration of the fixed point iteration are tested, namely Aitken relaxation, minimal polynomial extrapolation and reduced rank extrapolation. Numerical dispersion relation of the multi-symplectic Runge-Kutta (MSRK) method for linear Hamiltonian PDEs is derived in the present paper, which is shown to be a discrete counterpart to that possessed by the differential equation. Multiphase flow through porous media is a highly nonlinear process that can be solved numerically with the aid of finite elements (FE) in space and finite differences (FD) in time. For an accurate solution much refined FE grids are generally required with the major computational effort consisting of the resolution to the nonlinearity frequently obtained with the classical Picard linearization approach. The efficiency of the repeated solution to the linear systems within each individual time step represents the key to improve the performance of a multiphase flow simulator. The present paper discusses the performance of the projection solvers (GMRES with restart, TFQMR, and BiCGSTAB) for two global schemes based on a different nodal ordering of the unknowns (ORD1 and ORD2) and a scheme (SPLIT) based on the straightforward inversion of the lumped mass matrix which allows for the preliminary elimination and substitution of the unknown saturations. It is shown that SPLIT is between two and three time faster than ORD1 and ORD2, irrespective of the solver used. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We produce p-harmonic morphisms by conformal foliations and Clifford systems. First, we give a useful criterion for a foliation on an m-dimensional Riemannian manifold locally generated by conformal fields to produce p-harmonic morphisms. By using this criterion we manufacture conformal foliations, with codimension not equal to p, which are locally the fibres of p-harmonic morphisms. Then we give a new approach for the construction of p-harmonic morphisms from R^m/{0} to R^n. By the well-known representation of Clifford algebras, we find an abundance of the new 2/3 (m + 1)-harmonic morphism Ф: R^m/{0} → R^n where m = 2κδ(n - 1).  相似文献

Dual maps have been introduced as a generalization to higher dimensions of word substitutions and free group morphisms. In this paper, we study the action of these dual maps on particular discrete planes and surfaces, namely stepped planes and stepped surfaces. We show that dual maps can be seen as discretizations of toral automorphisms. We then provide a connection between stepped planes and the Brun multi-dimensional continued fraction algorithm, based on a desubstitution process defined on local geometric configurations of stepped planes. By extending this connection to stepped surfaces, we obtain an effective characterization of stepped planes (more exactly, stepped quasi-planes) among stepped surfaces.  相似文献
