Stochastic phase lockings in a relaxation oscillator forced by a periodic input with additive noise: A first-passage-time approach

Noise effects on phase lockings in a system consisting of a piecewise-linear van der Pol relaxation oscillator driven by a periodic input are studied. The problem of finding the period of the oscillator is reduced to the first-passage-time problem of the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process with time-varying boundary. The probability density functions of the first-passage time are used to define the operator which governs a transition of an input phase density after one cycle of the oscillator. Phase lockings in a stochastic sense are investigated on the basis of the density evolution by the operator.

本文通过数值计算探讨了封闭圆内开缝圆自然对流换热的振荡特性。数值计算以整个圆为计算区域,采用了非稳态的数学模型和具有QUICK差分格式的SIMPLE算法。在相同条件下计算结果和实验结果符合很好。数值结果显示, 当几何结构一定时,Rayleigh数Ra小于某个临界值时,流动和换热处于稳态,并且关于垂直中心线对称;Ra大于这个临界值时,流动和换热是振荡的,非对称的。数值实验还表明,流动和换热出现振荡时的临界Rayleigh数Rac与开缝圆的开缝度有关,且流动和换热的振荡会出现对称振荡和非对称振荡两种情形。     

水平均匀大气中多束光在接收面上的相关性及其对光强起伏的影响

在科尔莫戈罗夫理论的基础上，推广了光束在接收面上相关函数的物理含义。分析了多光束在接收面上的相关性。并在此基础上形成多光束光强起伏方差的解析表达式。分析结果表明，随着信道间距的增加，信道相关性下降。到达接收面的光强起伏方差降低；当信道完全重合，即相关系数变为1时，叠加后的光强起伏方差没有明显降低。与单光束时没有区别；在允许范围内增加光束数目可降低光强起伏。     

Tomographic analysis of the central magnetohydrodynamic oscillations on the HT-7 tokamak

Multi-channel soft x-ray (SX) detectors are applied to generate images of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) oscillation on the HT-7 tokamak, and the data from SX cameras are analysed by using the Fourier--Bessel harmonic reconstruction method and the singular value decomposition. The image reconstruction of SX emissivity is obtained on the assumption of plasma rigid rotation. One of the important phenomena in the HT-7 discharge is the transition from the sawtooth oscillations to the MHD oscillations when the plasma density grows higher. The MHD structure observed in the SX tomography is featured as follows: the magnetic surface of MHD structure is made up of the crescent-shaped ``hot core' and the circular ``cold bubble'. The structure of the magnetic surface is relatively stable. It rotates in the direction of the electron diamagnetic drift at a frequency being the oscillation frequency of the MHD oscillations.     

Mechanics of atoms interacting with a carbon nanotorus: optimal configuration and oscillation behaviour

In this paper, we investigate a carbon nanotorus as a caged molecular structure interacting with an atom. Assuming that the atom is located along the central axis perpendicular to the torus, the interaction energy of the system is determined using the continuum approximation together with the Lennard-Jones potential. This approach avoids the intensive computational calculations that are involved in other modelling approaches. Numerical results are presented in terms of dimensionless variables. The results show that the optimal major radius of the torus has a linear relationship with its minor radius when the atom is symmetrically situated along the torus axis. When the atom is offset from this axis, the minimum energy location shifts away from the centre as the ratio of the major and minor radii exceeds the value of 0.90. Finally, the oscillatory behaviour for the carbon atom is investigated. Our findings predict a novel nano-oscillator which can produce frequencies in the gigahertz range.     

Influence of friction and asymmetric freeplay on the limit cycle oscillation in aeroelastic system: An extended Hénon’s technique to temporal integration

Nonlinear effects such as friction and freeplay on the control surfaces can affect aeroelastic dynamics during flight. In particular, these nonlinearities can induce limit cycle oscillations (LCO), changing the system stability, and because of this it is essential to employ computational methods to predict this type of motion during the aircraft development cycle. In this context, the present article presents a matrix notation for describing the Hénon’s method used to reduce errors when considering piecewise linear nonlinearities in the numerical integration process. In addition, a new coordinate system is used to write the aeroelastic system of equations. The proposal defines a displacement vector with generalized and physical variables to simplify the computational implementation of the Hénon’s technique. Additionally, the article discusses the influence of asymmetric freeplay and friction on the LCO of an airfoil with control surface. The results show that the extended Hénon’s technique provides more accurate LCO predictions, that friction can change the frequency and amplitude of these motions, and the asymmetry of freeplay is important to determine the LCO behavior.
