An essential map approach for multimaps defined on closed subsets of Fréchet spaces

A number of new continuation theorems are presented for maps defined on closed subsets of a Fréchet space E. The proofs rely on the notion of an essential map and on viewing E as the projective limit of a sequence of Banach spaces.

ABSTRACT

In this note it is proved that certain level sets of some real proper polynomial maps are nothing but spheres. As an application of this, we provide new proofs of Theorems 1.1, 1.2 and of the fundamental theorem of algebra. In addition, we show that every strictly convex (concave) polynomial map is proper. The latter implies that every real polynomial map g(x): R ⁿ  → R ⁿ , whose Jacobian matrix is symmetric and has nonzero eigenvalues of the same sign, is a homeomorphism of R ⁿ onto R ⁿ .     

Blowing-Ups Describing the Polarization Change of Moduli Schemes of Semistable Sheaves of General Rank

Let H and H′ be two ample line bundles over a smooth projective surface X, and M(H) (resp. M(H′)) the coarse moduli scheme of H-semistable (resp. H′-semistable) sheaves of fixed type (r, c ₁, c ₂). We construct a sequence of blowing-ups which describes how M(H) differs from M(H′) when r is arbitrary and the wall of fixed type separating H and H′ is not necessarily good. Means we here utilize are elementary transforms and the notion of a sheaf with flag.     

Nonlinear Strong Commutativity Preserving Maps on Prime Rings

Let 𝒜 be a unital prime ring containing a nontrivial idempotent P. Assume that Φ: 𝒜 → 𝒜 is a nonlinear surjective map. It is shown that Φ preserves strong commutativity if and only if Φ has the form Φ(A) = αA + f(A) for all A ∈ 𝒜, where α ∈ {1, ?1} and f is a map from 𝒜 into 𝒵(𝒜). As an application, a characterization of nonlinear surjective strong commutativity preserving maps on factor von Neumann algebras is obtained.
