Cost-Effective and Large-Scale Synthesis of 16:0 Lysophosphatidic Acid

Abstract

Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) is a bioactive compound that has gained attention because of its role in neoplastic diseases. Popularity of the compound has necessitated the use of large quantities of the phospholipid for in vivo and in vitro testing, but methods for generating LPA require the use of costly procedures, namely phosphoramidite coupling reagents. Additionally there has been no reported large-scale synthesis of LPA. In the present study we report the cost-effective and large-scale synthesis of 16:0 LPA.     

Mathematical modeling of a slurry reactor for DME direct synthesis from syngas

In this paper,an axial dispersion mathematical model is developed to simulate a three-phase slurry bubble column reactor for direct synthesis of dimethyl ether(DME) from syngas.This large-scale reactor is modeled using mass and energy balances,catalyst sedimentation andsingle-bubble as well as two-bubbles class flow hydrodynamics.A comparison between the two hydrodynamic models through pilot plantexperimental data from the literature shows that heterogeneous two-bubbles flow model is in better agreement with the experimental data thanhomogeneous single-bubble gas flow model.Also,by investigating the heterogeneous gas flow and axial dispersion model for small bubblesas well as the large bubbles and slurry(i.e.including paraffins and the catalyst) phase,the temperature profile along the reactor is obtained.Acomparison between isothermal and non-isothermal reactors reveals no obvious performance difference between them.The optimum values ofreactor diameter and height were obtained at 7 m and 50 m,respectively.The effects of operating variables on the axial catalyst distribution,DME productivity and CO conversion are also investigated in this research.

A Tensile Strain Hardening Test Indicator of Environmental Stress Cracking Resistance

Environmental stress cracking resistance (ESCR) is an important indicator of performance for high density polyethylene (HDPE) in structural and polymer pipe applications. The commonly used test for determining ESCR of HDPE can be time consuming and rather imprecise. A tensile strain hardening test was recently proposed to offer a faster way to characterize ESCR of polyethylene. In this paper, a practical approach is adopted whereby the test is extended to room temperature and shown to relate reliably to the ESCR of HDPE. Several HDPE resins (including pipe‐grade resins) are analyzed at strain rates of 0.5 mm/min and 7 mm/min to compare the effect of strain rate. Comparisons between the conventional ESCR test method and the strain hardening test show that strain hardening can be used to rank ESCR of HDPE in a reliable fashion. In our study the more direct measure of “hardening stiffness” is used to compare resins instead of strain hardening modulus. Because no true stress‐strain measurement is needed, this is a much simpler test method than other methods previously suggested. In addition, the use of the natural drawing ratio (NDR) as ESCR ranking indicator is examined. Results show that NDR can also be employed as a strain rate‐independent indicator of ESCR of HDPE. The test proposed herein is practical, simple and precise, and hence a more reliable indicator of ESCR performance of HDPE.     

Topography and field effects in the inner side of microvia hole using ToF‐SIMS

We have developed a simple and powerful method, which is called ‘angled sample holder method’, to characterize a topographic structured sample such as microsized via hole of ball grid array using time‐of‐flight SIMS. The diameter of via holes was 100 µm and the depth was 70 µm. To remove the shaded area by incidence primary ion beam and to extract secondary ions from the bottom of a via hole, several types of angled sample holders with compensation steering plate were applied on the basis of simulation results using SIMION code. And the analyses using angled sample holder method enabled us to characterize the bottom and side wall of a via hole in clear. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

基于飞秒激光模间拍频法的大尺寸测距方法

本文基于飞秒激光模间拍频法实现多波长相位式绝对距离测量, 通过改变光频梳重复频率合成波长扩大测距量程, 并采用监测臂和双快门切换系统补偿和消除由电路产生的相位差单向漂移和大幅抖动. 实验中以20倍重复频率的拍频进行测量, 在30 min内相位测量的标准偏差为0.022°; 与双频激光干涉仪比对1125 mm行程内位移测量结果, 测距精度优于50 μm; 实验验证了合成波长方法扩大量程方案的可行性, 获得的测距重复性优于3 μm, 该系统理论上可扩展量程至7.5 km.     

大学物理实验中用坐标纸作图的规范性

大学物理实验中,作图法是数据处理中比较重要的一种方法,用坐标纸作图是数据处理训练的必要途径,但目前不少学生手工作图并不规范。总结出作图法的6条基本规则,并通过实验数据作图的实例,分析学生较为常见的手工作图不规范表现,并提出相应的教学建议。

通过求解电场线所满足的微分方程,得到了沿直线分布电荷体系电场线的严格解析解,根据所得电场线簇方程,讨论了各种沿直线分布电荷体系的电场线特点,并在计算机上利用Mathematica软件绘出了相应的电场线分布图.
