Synthesis of Some Dialkyl Bromo-Substituted Benzyl Phosphonates

Arbuzov reaction of bromo-substituted benzyl bromides and trialkyl phosphites in benzene gave high yields of dialkyl bromo-substituted benzyl phosphonates, and —CH₂CH₂CH₂CH₃). The structural assignments of these phosphonates were confirmed by ¹H nmr, ¹³C nmr, ir and mass spectral analysis.     

Kinetics of the surface tension of micellar solutions: Comparison of different experimental techniques

The kinetics of the surface tension of micellar solutions of nonionic surfactant Triton X-100 is measured experimentally by means of three different techniques: oscillating jet, maximum bubble pressure and inclined plate. They allow to study the micellization kinetics at various time scales (from a few milliseconds to a few seconds) in fairly large concentration region up to 50 times CMC. The experimental data are satisfactorily explained by a theoretical model accounting for the kinetics of micellization, diffusion of surfactant species and expansion of the bubble interface. By this model are computed the characteristic times of diffusion and micellization, which are of comparable magnitude (about 5 to 200 ms), and the Gibbs' elasticity. The micellization time constant corresponds to the slow relaxation process known to coincide with the disintegration of micelles. Comparing our data with other data from literature one can conclude that more realistic information for the micellization kinetics is obtained by the maximum bubble pressure and the oscillating jet method. The inclined plate seems too slow to measure the relaxation processes in micellar solutions of this surfactant.     

N,N'-二(二乙氧基硫代磷酰基)-1,4-苯二胺的合成、晶体结构及热性能研究

通过二乙氧基硫代磷酰氯与对苯二胺反应生成了标题化合物N,N'-二(二乙氧基硫代磷酰基)-1,4-苯二胺，并应用元素分析, FTIR及¹H NMR对标题化合物进行了表征. 利用X射线单晶衍射测定了其晶体结构, 同时应用TG分析法对其热性能进行了分析. 标题化合物的相对分子质量M_r＝412.42, 为正交晶系, Pbca空间群, 晶胞参数为a＝0.86936(16) nm, b＝1.2787(2) nm, c＝1.8897(3) nm, β＝90°, V＝2.1006(7) nm³, Z＝8, D_c＝1.304 g/cm³, μ(Mo Kα)＝0.425 mm^－1, F(000)＝872, S＝1.052. 最终偏离因子R＝0.0628, wR＝0.1860, 可观测衍射点1852个[I＞2σ(I)]. 该晶体通过对苯二胺连接并以中心对称分布, 并形成层状结构, 且存在弱的分子内氢键N—H…S. TG分析表明该化合物有很好的热稳定性及成炭性, 通过其阻燃聚丙烯腈表明, 该物质是一种高效能的膨胀型阻燃剂.     

Carburizing of titanium with plasma jets under reduced pressure

The carburizing of titanium with argon-methane (0.1%) and argon-methane (0.1%)-hydrogen (2%) plasma jets at a pressure of 200 Torr was studied. The carburizing of titanium was not successful with the argon-methane plasma jet because the specimen was covered with graphitic carbon. A hard and thick TiC layer was formed by the argon-methane-hydrogen plasma jet in a short time without the deposition of graphitic carbon. Emission spectra from the plasma jets show that the addition of hydrogen increases the amount of CH radicals as well as decreases the amount of C₂ and C in the plasma jet. The decrease of C₂ and C suppresses the deposition of graphitic carbon and enhances the TiC formation.Partly presented at Gordon Research Conference on Plasma Chemistry, August 11–15, 1986, Tilton, New Hampshire.     

Fire retardant synergism between melamine and triphenyl phosphate in poly(butylene terephthalate)

The fire retardant efficiency of melamine (MA) and triphenyl phosphate (TPP) in poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT) was studied by the limiting oxygen index (LOI) and the UL94 test. On adding 10 wt. % MA and 20 wt. % TPP, LOI increased from 20.9 to 26.6 and the UL94 V-0 rating was achieved. SEM and DSC analyses show that the fire retardants are compatible with PBT and facilitate crystallization of PBT. The occurrence of an interaction between MA + TPP and PBT was elucidated by TGA, dynamic FTIR, and pyrolysis/GC/MS. MA + TPP changes the degradation path of PBT and modifies the compositions of the gas and condensed-phase products.     

Modelling of the pressure-velocity correlation in turbulence diffusion

Most current computations of trubulent flows with second-moment closure adopt the diffusion models which neglect the effect of pressure-velocity correlation. In the present paper the importance of this correlation effect is elucidated the neglect of this effect accounts for some major defects in the wide application of the second-moment closures. Through the relation between and , established by Lumley, we propose here a new turbulence diffusion model which takes into consideration the pressure effect. Applications of this new model in the computation of shearless turbulence mixing layer and plane and round-jet flows show that the spreading rate of these flows can be satisfactorily captured.
