Remarks on the star-triangle relation in the Baxter-Bazhanov model

We show that the restricted star-triangle relation introduced by Bazhanov and Baxter can be obtained either from the star-triangle relation of the chiral Potts model or from the star-square relation proposed by Kashaev, Mangazeev, and Stroganov, and give a response to a guess of Bazhanov and Baxter.     

Hamilton–Jacobi Quantization of Singular Lagrangians with Linear Velocities

In this paper, constrained Hamiltonian systems with linear velocities are investigated by using the Hamilton–Jacobi method. The integrablity conditions are considered on the equations of motion and the action function as well in order to obtain the path integral quantization of singular Lagrangians with linear velocities.     

New Simple Method for Obtaining Integrable Hierarchies of Soliton Equations with Multicomponent Potential Functions

A new simple method for obtaining integrable hierarchies of soliton equations is proposed. First of all, a new loop algebra is constructed, whose commutation operation is clear as that in loop algebra . Second, by making use of the Tu scheme, many of integrable hierarchies with multicomponent potential functions can be produced. As a specific application of our method, a multicomponent AKNS hierarchy is obtained. Finally, an expanding loop algebra of the loop algebra is constructed. Taking advantage of above, a type of integrable coupling system of the multicomponent AKNS hierarchy is worked out.     

Equations in Dual Variables for Whittaker Functions

It is known that the Whittaker functions w(q) associated with the group GL(N) are eigenfunctions of the Hamiltonians of the open Toda chain, hence satisfy a set of differential equations in the Toda variables q _i . Using the expression of the q _i for the closed Toda chain in terms of Sklyanin variables _i , and the known relations between the open and the closed Toda chains, we show that Whittaker functions also satisfy a set of new difference equations in _i .     

Elliptic Linear Problem for Painlevé VI Equation with Spectral Parameter

We introduce a linear problem with a spectral parameter for the elliptic form of the Painlevé VI equation. The corresponding nonautonomous version produces the Lax pair with spectral parameter for the Calogero-Inozemtsev model with a single degree of freedom.     

On a Characterization of Spaces of Differentiable Functions

In this paper, we generalize Bernstein's theorem characterizing the space by means of local approximations. The closed interval is partitioned into disjoint half-intervals on which best approximation polynomials of degree divided by the lengths of these half-intervals taken to the power are considered. The existence of the limits of these ratios as the lengths of the half-intervals tend to zero is a criterion for the existence of the th derivative of a function. We prove the theorem in a stronger form and extend it to the spaces .     

Quantum Monodromy and Bohr–Sommerfeld Rules

This article is based on a talk given in Dijon for the 2000 summer school Topological and Geometrical Methods: Applications to Dynamical Systems. The standard definitions of the monodromy invariant for completely integrable classical systems are reviewed, and the link to the quantum monodromy observed in the joint spectrum of commuting operators is explained. The mathematical treatment relies on a modern and attractive version of the Bohr–Sommerfeld quantisation rules.     

On the Eigenstates of the Elliptic Calogero–Moser Model

It is known that the trigonometric Calogero–Sutherland model is obtained by the trigonometric limit (–1) of the elliptic Calogero–Moser model, where (1, ) is a basic period of the elliptic function. We show that for all square-integrable eigenstates and eigenvalues of the Hamiltonian of the Calogero–Sutherland model, if exp(2–1) is small enough then there exist square-integrable eigenstates and eigenvalues of the Hamiltonian of the elliptic Calogero–Moser model which converge to the ones of the Calogero–Sutherland model for the 2-particle and the coupling constant l is positive integer cases and the 3-particle and l=1 case. In other words, we justify the regular perturbation with respect to the parameter exp(2–1). With some assumptions, we show analogous results for N-particle and l is positive integer cases.

Software industry oriented education faces more challenges than traditional research and discipline oriented education.To meet these challenges,the Learning by Doing teaching pattern plays an important role in the software industry oriented education.Practice and experience in the teaching of Master of Software Engineering(MSE)students in the Software School of Sun Yat-sen University are presented in the paper.From our viewpoint of MSE education,the success comes from a good trade-off between Learning by Doing lectures and theoretical lectures.Furthermore,feedback and communication are critical and requisite for the successful application of Learning by Doing teaching pattern.
