We construct connected, locally connected, almost regular, countable, Urysohn spaces. This answers a problem of G.X. Ritter. We show that there are 2c such non-homeomorphic spaces. We also show that there are 2c non-homeomorphic spaces which are further rigid. We discuss the group of homeomorphisms of such spaces.The following question was raised by G.X. Ritter: Does there exist a countable connected locally connected Urysohn space which is almost regular? We answer this question in the affirmative and in fact, show that not only are there as many as 2c such spaces but that there are just as many rigid spaces with the same properties. Furthermore we show that every countable Urysohn space is a subspace of such a space. We also prove that every countable group is isomorphic to the group of autohomeomorphisms of some connected locally connected almost regular Urysohn space. Examples are given of groups of order c which can be represented in this manner. 相似文献

A homeomorphism of a compactum with metric is expansive if there is such that if and , then there is an integer such that . It is well-known that -adic solenoids () admit expansive homeomorphisms, each is an indecomposable continuum, and cannot be embedded into the plane. In case of plane continua, the following interesting problem remains open: For each , does there exist a plane continuum so that admits an expansive homeomorphism and separates the plane into components? For the case , the typical plane continua are circle-like continua, and every decomposable circle-like continuum can be embedded into the plane. Naturally, one may ask the following question: Does there exist a decomposable circle-like continuum admitting expansive homeomorphisms? In this paper, we prove that a class of continua, which contains all chainable continua, some continuous curves of pseudo-arcs constructed by W. Lewis and all decomposable circle-like continua, admits no expansive homeomorphisms. In particular, any decomposable circle-like continuum admits no expansive homeomorphism. Also, we show that if is an expansive homeomorphism of a circle-like continuum , then is itself weakly chaotic in the sense of Devaney.

We show that if satisfies the peripheral multiplicativity condition for all , where is the peripheral spectrum of , then is an isometric algebra isomorphism from onto . One of the consequences of this result is that any surjective, unital, and multiplicative operator that preserves the peripheral ranges of algebra elements is an isometric algebra isomorphism. We describe also the structure of general, not necessarily unital, surjective and peripherally multiplicative operators between uniform algebras.

This paper presents a configuration manifold model for the analysis of dynamic systems and the development of control algorithms from both geometrical and topological points of view. The fundamental theory of surfaces and differential manifolds endowed with Riemannian metrics is overviewed. The concepts of configuration manifolds (C-manifolds) and their immersions and embeddings are then introduced and applied to dynamic systems modeling. An explicit form of the smooth embedding for a given dynamic system with its C-manifold is derived. In an open serial-chain robotic system, a topological equivalence, i.e. a homeomorphism, is found and shown to be useful for dynamic model reduction. With topology being viewed as the structure of geometry, we discover and prove that the kinematics of a dynamic system determines its topology so that the kinematics is virtually a structure of the system's dynamics. This key point of view is further extended to the development of an adaptive control strategy. A computer simulation study is finally performed to verify the proposed model and adaptive control scheme. 相似文献

In this paper, we have modified the Detrended Fluctuation Analysis (DFA) using the ternary Cantor set. We propose a modification of the DFA algorithm, Cantor DFA (CDFA), which uses the Cantor set theory of base 3 as a scale for segment sizes in the DFA algorithm. An investigation of the phenomena generated from the proof using real-world time series based on the theory of the Cantor set is also conducted. This new approach helps reduce the overestimation problem of the Hurst exponent of DFA by comparing it with its inverse relationship with of the Truncated Lévy Flight (TLF). CDFA is also able to correctly predict the memory behavior of time series. 相似文献
