Simultaneous approximation by universal series

We show that, if individual universal series exist, then we can choose a sequence of universal series performing simultaneous universal approximation with the same sequence of indices. As an application we derive the existence of universal Laurent Series on an annulus using only the existence of universal Taylor Series on discs. t-Spread strongly stable monomial ideals*

We introduce the concept of t-spread monomials and t-spread strongly stable ideals. These concepts are a natural generalization of strongly stable and squarefree strongly stable ideals. For the study of this class of ideals we use the t-fold stretching operator. It is shown that t-spread strongly stable ideals are componentwise linear. Their height, their graded Betti numbers and their generic initial ideal are determined. We also consider the toric rings whose generators come from t-spread principal Borel ideals.     

Generic leaves

A remarkable theorem of E. Ghys asserts that, for any harmonic measure on a compact, foliated metric space, -almost every leaf has 0, 1, 2 or a Cantor set of ends. In this paper, analogous results are proven for topologically almost all (i.e., residual families of) leaves. More precisely, if some leaf is totally recurrent, a residual family of leaves is totally recurrent with 1, 2 or a Cantor set of ends. A "local" version of this theorem asserts that, in general, topologically almost all leaves have 0, 1, 2 or a Cantor set of dense ends. Received: October 1, 1997

The barycenter property for robust and generic diffeomorphisms

Let f:M~d→M~d(d≥2) be a diffeomorphism on a compact C~∞ manifold on M.If a diffeomorphism f belongs to the C~1-interior of the set of all diffeomorphisms having the barycenter property,then f is Ω-stable.Moreover,if a generic diffeomorphism f has the barycenter property,then f is Ω-stable.We also apply our results to volume preserving diffeomorphisms.

在微分几何的教学中,曲线,曲面理论是最主要的基础理论知识.欧氏空间中密切曲线在微分几何学中具有重要的研究价值.主要运用具有类光向量的费雷内标架讨论在四维Minkowski空间中与欧氏空间不同的一类特殊密切曲线(伪类光曲线)的一些几何性质,同时通过横截性原理给出了由伪类光曲线生成的伪类光超曲面的局部几何性质与奇点分类.     

Absolutely indecomposable modules

A module is called absolutely indecomposable if it is directly indecomposable in every generic extension of the universe. We want to show the existence of large abelian groups that are absolutely indecomposable. This will follow from a more general result about -modules over a large class of commutative rings with endomorphism ring which remains the same when passing to a generic extension of the universe. It turns out that `large' in this context has a precise meaning, namely being smaller than the first -Erdos cardinal defined below. We will first apply a result on large rigid valuated trees with a similar property established by Shelah in 1982, and will prove the existence of related `-modules' (-modules with countably many distinguished submodules) and finally pass to -modules. The passage through -modules has the great advantage that the proofs become very transparent essentially using a few `linear algebra' arguments also accessible for graduate students. The result closes a gap of Eklof and Shelah (1999) and Eklof and Mekler (2002), provides a good starting point for Fuchs and Göbel, and gives a new construction of indecomposable modules in general using a counting argument.
