The Equality Constrained Indefinite Least Squares Problem: Theory and Algorithms

We present theory and algorithms for the equality constrained indefinite least squares problem, which requires minimization of an indefinite quadratic form subject to a linear equality constraint. A generalized hyperbolic QR factorization is introduced and used in the derivation of perturbation bounds and to construct a numerical method. An alternative method is obtained by employing a generalized QR factorization in combination with a Cholesky factorization. Rounding error analysis is given to show that both methods have satisfactory numerical stability properties and numerical experiments are given for illustration. This work builds on recent work on the unconstrained indefinite least squares problem by Chandrasekaran, Gu, and Sayed and by the present authors.

Treasury Management Model with Foreign Exchange Exposure

In this paper we formulate a model for foreign exchange exposure management and (international) cash management taking into consideration random fluctuations of exchange rates. A vector error correction model (VECM) is used to predict the random behaviour of the forward as well as spot rates connecting dollar and sterling. A two-stage stochastic programming (TWOSP) decision model is formulated using these random parameter values. This model computes currency hedging strategies, which provide rolling decisions of how much forward contracts should be bought and how much should be liquidated.The model decisions are investigated through ex post simulation and backtesting in which value at risk (VaR) for alternative decisions are computed. The investigation (a) shows that there is a considerable improvement to “spot only” strategy, (b) provides insight into how these decisions are made and (c) also validates the performance of this model.     

On the dynamics of nonautonomous periodic general dynamical systems and differential inclusions

We establish the existence and stability results for periodic nonautonomous uniform forward attractors of periodic general dynamical systems (set-valued dynamical systems). We also investigate the dynamical behavior of nonautonomous periodic differential inclusion x^′(t)∈f(t,x(t)) on R^m with only upper semi-continuous right-hand side by applying the abstract results. Firstly, we show that if the system has a compact uniformly attracting set, then it has a periodic nonautonomous uniform forward attractor A. Secondly, we prove that A is robust with respect to both internal and external perturbations. Finally, we apply the robustness result to discuss the effects of small time delays to asymptotic stability of the system.

The homogeneous projective transformation of general quadratic matrix equations

Hence,the importance of that equation in science and engineering isevident. This paper focus on the study of solutions of thatGQME and a unified framework for the characterization and identificationof solutions at infinity and of finite solutions of generalquadratic algebraic matrix equations is presented. The analysisis based on the concept of homogeneous projective transformationfor general polynomial systems (Morgan, 1986). In addition,a numerical error analysis for the computed solutions is providedfor the assessment of numerical accuracy, stability and conditioningof the computed solutions. The proposed framework is independentof any numerical method and therefore it can be used along withvarious possible numerical methods for the GQME solution, especiallymatrix flow-based algorithms (Chu, 1994) (e.g. continuation/homotopy,Morgan, 1989).     

Stopping criteria, forward and backward errors for perturbed asynchronous linear fixed point methods in finite precision

Successive approximationsas well as the more general asynchronous iterations are treated.Forward and backward error estimates are presented, and theseare used to propose theoretical stopping criteria for thesemethods. In the case of asynchronous iterations, macro-iterationsare used as a tool in order to obtain estimates.     

基于重建图像全角度前投影的硬化校正方法

现有的硬化效应校正方法依赖于射线频谱等先验条件,校正过程较为复杂,因此提出一种基于重建图像全角度前投影的硬化校正方法.对重建后的图像进行区域分割,提取出杯状伪影主要影响的组织区域;然后进行基于像素点的全角度前投影,获得校正基算子;再将校正基算子及其高次方乘积进行线性组合获得校正算子,并将此校正算子应用于原图像从而达到校正的目的.水模、头模和西瓜的校正结果显示,本方法对单物质及近人体的物质重建图像的硬化效应均有较好的校正效果.
