Kinetics of adsorption and desorption of Pb(II) in aqueous solution on activated carbon by two-site adsorption model 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3

The adsorption and desorption equilibrium and kinetics of lead ions from aqueous solutions on a granular activated carbon (GAC) were examined. Rapid increase followed by slow increase in Pb(II) amount on the GAC was observed as a function of time for the adsorption, while rapid decrease and consecutive very slow decrease was observed in desorption. Based on the experimental results, a two-site adsorption model was proposed for the adsorption and the desorption of Pb(II) under the study conditions. The Pb(II) adsorption on the GAC was estimated to have simultaneously occurred on the strong and the weak adsorption sites. Conventional Langmuir-type kinetic equations were introduced to quantitatively predict the adsorption and desorption with the two-site model by optimizing the parameters to fit the equilibrium and the kinetic experimental results. The equilibrium and kinetic experimental results could be represented by the equations by using one set of the common Langmuir parameters. Resultant kinetic parameters revealed that the adsorption equilibrium constant was two orders of magnitude greater for strong adsorption site than for weak adsorption site, though the maximum number of weak adsorption site was 1.5 times as great as that of strong adsorption site. The strong adsorption equilibrium constant resulted from a small desorption rate constant for the site. The equations were demonstrated to be applicable for predicting other desorption performances as well. 相似文献

Fourier transform Raman spectra of eight mixtures of four organic solids, namely dicyandiamide, melamine, acetamide and urea were measured. Matrices formed from these spectra were first subjected to singular value decomposition to obtain the right singular vectors. The right singular vectors were then subjected to blind source separation using band-target entropy minimization (BTEM), thus no a priori information (i.e. involving the nature of the components present, their spectra, nor their concentrations) was included in the analysis. The recovered pure component spectra are of exceptionally high quality and are consistent with pure reference spectra. Various empirical and statistical tests, such as the Euclidean norm and target transform factor analysis, were employed to assess the quality of the recovered spectra. The present results indicate the applicability of combined Raman and BTEM analysis for solid mixtures. 相似文献

The geothermal reservoir in Tianjin can be divided into two parts: the upper one is theporous medium reservoir in the Tertiary system; the lower one includes the basement reservoir inLower Paleozoic and Middle-Upper Proterozoic. Hot springs are exposed in the northern mountainand confined geothermal water is imbedded in the southern plain. The geothermal reservoir is in-cised by several fractures. In recent years, TDS of the geothermal water have gone up along withthe production rate increasing, along the eastern fracture zone (Cangdong Fracture and West Bai-tangkou Fracture). This means that the northern fracture system is the main seepage channel ofthe deep circulation geothermal water, and the reservoir has good connection in a certain area anddefinite direction. The isotopic research about hydrogen and carbon chronology indicates that themain recharge period of geothermal water is the Holocene Epoch, the pluvial and chilly period of20 kaBP. The karst conduits in weathered carbonate rocks of the Proterozoic and Lower Paleozoicand the northeast regional fracture system are the main feeding channels of Tianjin geothermalwater. Since the Holocene epoch, the geothermal water stayed at a sealed warm period. Thetracer test in WR45 doublet system shows that the tracer test is a very effective measure forunderstanding the reservoir's transport nature and predicting the cooling time and transportvelocity during the reinjection. 3-D numerical simulation shows that if the reinjection well keeps asuitable distance from the production well, reinjection will be a highly effective measure to extractmore thermal energy from the rock matrix. The complete graph conjecture that encodes the inner-core electrons of atoms with principal quantum number n >or= 2 with complete graphs, and especially with odd complete graphs, is discussed. This conjecture is used to derive new values for the molecular connectivity and pseudoconnectivity basis indices of hydrogen-suppressed chemical pseudographs. For atoms with n = 2 the new values derived with this conjecture are coincident with the old ones. The modeling ability of the new homogeneous basis indices, and of the higher-order terms, is tested and compared with previous modeling studies, which are centered on basis indices that are either based on quantum concepts or partially based on this new conjecture for the inner-core electrons. Two similar algorithms have been proposed with this conjecture, and they parallel the two "quantum" algorithms put forward by molecular connectivity for atoms with n > 2. Nine properties of five classes of compounds have been tested: the molecular polarizabilities of a class of organic compounds, the dipole moment, molar refraction, boiling points, ionization energies, and parachor of a series of halomethanes, the lattice enthalpy of metal halides, the rates of hydrogen abstraction of chlorofluorocarbons, and the pED(50) of phenylalkylamines. The two tested algorithms based on the odd complete graph conjecture give rise to a highly interesting model of the nine properties, and three of them can even be modeled by the same set of basis indices. The state of water adsorbed on active carbons and canal soot was studied using the “chemical potential—entropy—temperature”
diagram. In the range of the relative pressures from 0.174 to 1, the state of adsorbed water is similar to the state of a
stretched liquid. The molar volume, heat of evaporation, and surface tension of stretched water were calculated at different
relative pressures. Near the spinodal, the molar volume of stretched water is 25% higher, and the surface tension is considerably
lower compared to water.

Inverse relaxation is studied for hard elastic polypropylene (HEPP), rubber and non-elastic polypropylene. The results show that contractive stress, stress, and internal friction are three essential factors related to the phenomenon. A three-element model in which each element has a definite meaning is proposed to describe this phenomenon. The results also show that, in the first cyclic deformation, relaxation time increases with the increase of recovery for all the materials, which indicates that recovery viscosity increases with the increase of recovery, but the stress rising amplitude (SRA) of inverse relaxation has a maximum in the recovery range. Analysis indicates that SRA equals recovery internal friction (RIF) for ideal material in which stress is solely a function of strain, independent of paths, and approximately equals RIF for non-ideal material at a given strain. From this principle it is found that the order of the work counteracted by RIF for the four materials is the same as that of their second hysteresis loop, and the RIF of HEPP has a sudden increase at the later recovery range. 相似文献

[Met5]-Enkephalin has the sequence Tyr-Gly-Gly-Phe-Met. Only the extended conformation of the peptide has been observed by X-ray crystallography. Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy supports the presence of a turn at Gly 3 and Phe 4 in dimethyl sulfoxide. In this study, the peptide conformational states and thermodynamic properties are understood in terms of ionization state and solvent environment. In the calculation, final conformations obtained from multiple independent Monte Carlo simulated annealing conformational searches are starting points for molecular dynamics simulations. In an aqueous environment given by the use of solvation free energy and the zwitterionic state, dominant structural motifs computed are G-P Type II bend, G-G Type II bend, and G-G Type I bend motifs, in order of increasing free energy. In the calculation of the peptide with neutral N- and C-termini and solvation free energy, the extended conformer dominates (by at least a factor of 2.5), and the conformation of another low free energy conformer superimposes well on the pharmacophoric groups of morphine. Neutralization of charge and solvation induce and stabilize the extended conformation, respectively. A mechanism of inter-conversion between the extended conformer and three bent conformers is supported by /-scatter plots, and by the conformer relative free energies. An estimate of the entropy change of receptor unbinding is 8.3 cal K-1 mol-1, which gives rise to a -2.5 kcal/mol entropy contribution to the free energy of unbinding at 25 °C. The conformational analysis methodology described here should be useful in studies on short peptides and flexible protein surface loops that have important biological implications. 相似文献
