Preparation of l-Threoninol and Its Bisoxazoline Derivative

Abstract

(R,R)-Threoninol was prepared in one step from l-threonine in 86% isolated yield. The product was regioselectively transformed into 2,2-bis[(4R,5R)-4-(hydroxymethyl)-5-methyl-1,3-oxazolin-2-yl]propane in 42% isolated yield.     

Nickel-catalyzed synthesis of 9-monoalkylated fluorenes from 9-fluorenone hydrazone and alcohols

A practical protocol was disclosed for the nickel-catalyzed C-alkylation of 9-fluorenone hydrazone with alcohols using t-BuOK as the base, and 9-monoalkylated fluorene derivatives were obtained in good yields under the benign conditions.     

One‐Pot,High‐Yielding Synthesis of Novel Dihydrothiazolo[3,2‐a]pyrimidinones

Reaction between 6‐(un)substituted‐2‐thiouracils and E‐ethyl 4‐bromocrotonate under basic conditions at room temperature is an easy, mild, high‐yielding, and regioselective method for the preparation of 7‐(un)substituted dihydrothiazolo[3,2‐a]pyrimidinone derivatives.     

Oxidation of Benzylic Alcohols to Carbonyl Compounds with Potassium Permanganate in Ionic Liquids

Abstract

The selective oxidation of primary and secondary benzylic alcohols with potassium permanganate in ionic liquids to give corresponding aldehydes and ketones in 83–97% yields has been described.     

Organocatalytic Conjugate Addition of Azide Ion to α,β‐Unsaturated Aldehydes

An efficient and simple amine‐catatalyzed azide conjugate addition to α,β‐unsaturated aldehydes has been developed. In the presence of a catalytic amount of tertiary amine with a 1:1 mixture of NaN₃ and 37% HCl in CH₂Cl₂, α,β‐unsaturated aldehydes provided β‐azido aldehydes, which could be transformed into 1,3‐amino alcohols.     

Simple and practical method for selective acylation of primary hydroxy group catalyzed by N-methyl-2-phenylimidazole (Ph-NMI) or 2-phenylimidazo[2,1-b]benzothiazoles (Ph-IBT)

N-Methyl-2-phenylimidazole (Ph-NMI) and 2-phenylimidazo[2,1-b]benzothiazoles (Ph-IBT) catalyzed selective acylation of primary alcohols using acid anhydrides. The Ph-NMI- or Ph-IBT-catalyzed reaction using (PhCO)₂O as an acylating agent could particularly acylate the primary hydroxy group of 1,n-diols (n ⩾ 3) with a high, synthetically useful selectivity.     

Oxidation of aliphatic alcohols by triethylammonium chlorochromate in non-aqueous medium – A kinetic and mechanistic study

The oxidation of some aliphatic alcohols by triethylammonium chlorochromate (TriEACC) in dimethyl sulfoxide leads to the formation of the corresponding carbonyl compounds. The reaction is first order with respect to TriEACC. The reaction exhibited Michaelis–Menten type kinetics with respect to alcohol. The reaction is catalyzed by hydrogen ions. The hydrogen-ion dependence has the form: k_obs = a + b[H⁺]. The oxidation of [1,1-²H₂] ethanol (MeCD₂OH) exhibits a substantial primary kinetic isotope effect. Oxidation of aliphatic alcohol was studied in 19 different organic solvents. The solvent effect has been analysed using Kamlet’s and Swain’s multi-parametric equation. A suitable mechanism has been proposed.     

聚乙烯醇与聚己内酰胺合金膜材料制备及其性能表征

甲酸为共溶剂,蒸馏水为共沉淀剂,通过溶液共混和液-固相转变法(L-S)制备出聚乙烯醇与聚己内酰胺(PVA/PA-6)合金.采用黏度法、折光指数法、DSC法、FTIR法、TG法和接触角法研究了PVA/PA-6的相容性、热稳定性及亲水性.结果表明PVA与PA-6有很好的相容性;PVA/PA-6合金膜材料比纯PVA热稳定性好;PA-6可有效地降低PVA/PA-6的亲水性.     

Porous Tantalum Nitride Single Crystal at Two-Centimeter Scale with Enhanced Photoelectrochemical Performance

Porous tantalum nitride (Ta₃N₅) single crystals, combining structural coherence and porous microstructure, would substantially improve the photoelectrochemical performance. The structural coherence would reduce the recombination of charge carriers and maintain excellent transport properties while the porous microstructure would not only reduce photon scattering but also facilitate surface reactions. Here, we grow bulk-porous Ta₃N₅ single crystals on a two-centimeter scale with (002), (023), and (041) facets, respectively, and show significantly enhanced photoelectrochemical performance. We show the preferential facet growth of porous crystals in a lattice reconstruction strategy in relation to lattice match and lattice channel. We present the facet engineering to enhance light absorption, exciton lifetime and transport properties. The porous Ta₃N₅ single crystal boosts photoelectrochemical oxidation of alcohols with the (002) facet showing the highest performance of >99 % alcohol conversion and >99 % aldehyde/ketone selectivity.     

Fabrication and invitro evaluation of electrospun gum ghatti-polyvinyl alcohol polymeric blend green nanofibre mat (GG-PVA NFM) as a novel material for polymeric scaffolds in wound healing

The present research is mainly based on the fabrication of biodegradable nanofiber mats (NFM) through the process of electrospinning using a novel combination of Gum Ghatti (GG) and Poly vinyl alcohol (PVA). The prepared NFM was crosslinked (CL-1) using Glutaraldeyde-HCl vapours and was characterized for its tensile strength along other analytical characterizations using FTIR, TGA, DSC and XRD. The mechanical strength of the NFM was found to be sufficiently high than in comparison to noncrosslinked sample and PVA NFM. The internal architecture of the CL-1 by use of atomic force microscopy (AFM) revealed that there was very well formed crosslinks suitable for drug loading as well as cell proliferation. The wound healing properties of the CL-1 in mice animal model indicated the healing within 5 days as compared to the control wound. Moreover, the sample was also analysed for its ability as polymeric scaffold and no toxicity was found onto the locally applied tissue on histological investigations.
