Runs,scans and URN model distributions: A unified Markov chain approach

This paper presents a unified approach for the study of the exact distribution (probability mass function, mean, generating functions) of three types of random variables: (a) variables related to success runs in a sequence of Bernoulli trials (b) scan statistics, i.e. variables enumerating the moving windows in a linearly ordered sequence of binary outcomes (success or failure) which contain prescribed number of successes and (c) success run statistics related to several well known urn models. Our approach is based on a Markov chain imbedding which permits the construction of probability vectors satisfying triangular recurrence relations. The results presented here cover not only the case of identical and independently distributed Bernoulli variables, but the non-identical case as well. An extension to models exhibiting Markov dependence among the successive trials is also discussed in brief.     

Scaling inequalities for oriented percolation

We look at seven critical exponents associated with two-dimensional oriented percolation. Scaling theory implies that these quantities satisfy four equalities. We prove five related inequalitites.     

A novel approach to molecular similarity

Summary We review briefly the general problem of assessing the similarity between one molecule and another. We propose a novel approach to the quantitative estimation of the similarity of two electron distributions. The procedure is based on momentum space concepts, and avoids many of the difficulties associated with the usual position space definitions. Results are presented for the model systems CH₃CH₂CH₃, CH₃OCH₃, CH₃SCH₃, H₂O and H₂S.     

德拜势中类氢原子能级近似解析式与幂级数求解

对德拜势(Debye)中类氢原子的能级问题采用Rayleigh-Schrdinger微扰展开,给出了能级的一阶修正与原子能级的近似解析式.同时,采用波函数幂级数解法,求得了德拜势下相关的递推关系.在此基础上,利用能量自洽法,求出了相当于二阶修正的德拜势下类氢原子的能级值,并就其计算结果与数值解进行了比较.同时,讨论了相应的临界束缚能态与截断条件.

水工结构脆性材料模型试验的探讨

本文根据多组次试验结果,对山西平陆白石膏(脆性模型材料)的各项性能指标作了扼要的阐述,并就模型粘结剂和电阻应变片粘结剂提出了对比试验结果及评价。为了在电测试验资料的分析计算中实现计算机化,重新推导了由应变换算应力的三元应力计算公式,编制了相应的 PC 计算机 BASIC 语言程序。     

Preservation of persistence and stability under intersections and operations,part 1: Persistence

New results about convergence of sets and functions in possibly infinite-dimensional spaces are derived in a simple and unified way from two results dealing with the continuity with respect to a parameter of the intersection of two convex sets depending on this parameter.
