A Quick Color Test to Detect Lead Release From Glazed Ceramic and Enameled Metalware

Abstract

A color test is presented for the purpose of quickly identifying glazed ceramic and/or enameled metalware which releases excessive Pb. Citric acid solution on filter paper is used to extract Pb from the ware and a Pb-sensitive chromogen indicates the presence of Pb on the paper. The quick color test takes approximately 30 min and is useful for screening ware to determine the need for testing by the 24-h method of the Association of Official Analytical Chemists/American Society for Testing and Materials.     

All- optical phase encoded 4-to-1 phase multiplexer using four wave mixing in semiconductor optical amplifier

Optics has already showed its potency over its electronic complements in case of superfast computing and communication systems. Semiconductor optical amplifier, (SOA) with its several nonlinear properties, plays a very crucial role in the development of high-speed all-optical processor. Multiplexer and demultiplexer are the extremely important element of the processor which takes part in utilizing different actions like encoding, decoding, routing, and the different process of data conversion and generation, etc. In this paper, the authors have proposed a scheme of phase encoded all-optical phase multiplexer using four wave mixing (FWM) property of semiconductor optical amplifier. Thus, the improved tolerance against fiber-nonlinearity and higher receiver sensitivity of phase encoding method with the fast occurring processes like FWM in SOA offers higher speed in this proposed scheme of multiplexing.     

不同调光方式LED照射下的人体非视觉效应

分别采用模拟调光和PWM调光方式实现LED光调节。采用生理参数法,以在校大学生为研究对象,选择3种色温(3 000,5 600,6 500 K)LED光源,在3种照度(300,500,800 lx)水平下,对8名(5男,3女)受测者在实验前后的脉搏和瞳孔进行测量。选择同样3种色温LED光源,分别采用两种调光方式添加蓝光(464nm,20 lx)实现300 lx的照明环境,对12名(8男,4女)受测者在实验前后的脉搏和瞳孔进行测量。结果表明:两种调光方式实现的LED光环境对人体脉搏变化率和瞳孔收缩率的影响均没有显著性差异;在测试照明环境中添加蓝光,可引起人体脉搏变化率和瞳孔收缩率增大,峰值处分别增加约6%和9%。     

Flux and fluence dependence of disorder produced during implantation of 11B in silicon

The flux and fluence dependence of disorder produced in silicon during the implantation of ¹¹B has been investigated at room temperature, -50°C. and -120°C. Implantations were carried out with 200 keV ¹¹B ions using current densities in the range from 0.06μA/cm² to 15μA/cm², and the disorder monitored by measuring the energy spectra of backscattered protons which were incident on the sample at 450 keV parallel to a (110) axis. Significant differences in the dependence of the disorder on ¹¹B flux and fluence were observed between the implantations performed at room temperature and those carried out at the two lower temperatures.     

Color centers in irradiated MgF2

Abstract

Color centers in rutile-structured MgF₂ single crystals irradiated at 20K/360K by reactor neutrons are investigated spectroscopically at LNT. Four different types of the F-F vacancy bond in MgF₂ are possibly identified to the observed absorption bands as due to the F₂ centers; instead of previous assignments, the 300nm band to the F₂(D_2h), the 325nm band to the F₂(C₁), the 355nm band to the F₂(C_2v), and the 400nm band to the F₂(C_2h) centers.     

An improved watermarking method based on double random phase encoding technique

An improved watermarking method, based on the double random phase encoding technique and the cascaded-phases iterative algorithm and random-phase-shift algorithm, is proposed. This method can significantly reduce the needs of watermarking information storage for different multimedia products, and provide a reasonable criterion of determining the authenticity of a product for the copyright owner. This method can also be applied to track the source of copies. The effectiveness of this method was verified through numerical simulations.     

Structure of tecophilin,a tri-caffeoylanthocyanin from the blue petals of Tecophilaea cyanocrocus, and the mechanism of blue color development

The pigment, tecophilin, in blue flowers of Tecophilaea cyanocrocus was isolated and the structure was determined to be 3-O-(6-O-α-l-rhamnopyranosyl-β-d-glucopyranosyl)-7-O-(6-O-(4-O-(2-O-(4-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-(E)-caffeoyl)-6-O-(4-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-(E)-caffeoyl)-β-d-glucopyranosyl)-(E)-caffeoyl)-β-d-glucopyranosyl)delphinidin. The reproduction experiment of the same color as petals according to the results of chemical analysis and measurement of vacuolar pH of blue cells clarified that the blue color solely develops by tecophilin without interaction of metal ions nor co-pigments. ¹H NMR analysis and CD spectrum indicate the co-existence of clockwise intermolecular self-association of the delphinidin nuclei and intramolecular π–π stacking between the chromophore and caffeoyl residues to derive bathochromic shift of the absorption spectrum and stabilize the color by preventing hydration reaction.     

中国书画颜料颜色仿真与存储方法研究

在虚拟绘制中,基于Kubelka-Munk颜色光学理论,提出了一种中国书画颜料颜色仿真新方法,其主要思想是:根据颜料R/G/B三颜色通道的遮盖力(c)和单位厚度颜料在黑背景下的反射率(Rb)计算得到颜料各颜色通道吸收系数(K)和散射系数(S),通过K、S和宣纸反射率计算得到宣纸上有效厚度为d时颜料的反射率(Rd),根据该反射率与下一层颜料的K、S和d计算得到两层颜料合成时的反射率,依此类推得到多层颜料合成时的反射率,将该反射率转换成颜色亮度值(R,G,B),从而得到宣纸上多层颜料合成时的颜色(RGB).在此基础上提出一种颜色存储方法,通过存储宣纸上颜色(RGB)实现对绘制结果的实时存取和显示.所提方法已成功应用于基于力反馈技术的虚拟绘制系统中,较好地仿真了植物色与矿物色在颜色合成中的不同特征.     

The Influence of Different Pretreatment Methods on Color and Pigment Change in Beetroot Products

Vegetable processing pomace contains valuable substances such as natural colors that can be reused as functional ingredients. Due to a large amount of water, they are an unstable material. The aim of our research was to assess how the pretreatment method (thermal or nonthermal) affects the properties of powders obtained from beet juice and pomace after the freeze-drying process. The raw material was steamed or sonicated for 10 or 15 min, and then squeezed into juice and pomace. Both squeezed products were freeze-dried. The content of dry substance; L*, a*, and b* color parameters; and the content of betalain pigments were analyzed. Pretreatments increased the proportion of red and yellow in the juices. Steam and ultrasound caused a significant reduction in parameter b* in the dried pomace. A significant increase in betanin in lyophilizates was observed after pretreatment with ultrasound and steam for 15 min. As a result of all experiments, dried juices and pomaces can also be used as a colorant source. However, there is higher potential with pomaces due to their additional internal substances as well as better storage properties. After a few hours, juice was sticky and not ready to use.
