Vertices of given degree in series‐parallel graphs

We show that the numbers of vertices of a given degree k ≥ 1 in several kinds of series‐parallel labeled graphs of size n satisfy a central limit theorem with mean and variance proportional to n, and quadratic exponential tail estimates. We further prove a corresponding theorem for the number of nodes of degree two in labeled planar graphs. The proof method is based on generating functions and singularity analysis. In particular, we need systems of equations for multivariate generating functions and transfer results for singular representations of analytic functions. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Valuation of futures options with initial margin requirements and daily price limit

The paper presents a valuation model of futures options trading at exchanges with initial margin requirements and daily price limit, and this result gives an academic guidance to design trading rules at exchanges. Unlike the leading work of Black, certain trading rules are considered so as to be more fit for practical futures markets. The paper prices futures options with initial margin requirements and daily price limit by duplicating them with the help of the theory of backward stochastic differential equations （BSDEs, for short）. Furthermore, an explicit expression of the price Of the call （or the put） futures option is given and also is shown to be the unique solution of the associated nonlinear partial differential equation.     

Bifurcations of limit cycles in a Z 4-equivariant quintic planar vector field

In this paper, a Z4-equivariant quintic planar vector field is studied. The Hopf bifurcation method and polycycle bifurcation method are combined to study the limit cycles bifurcated from the compounded cycle with 4 hyperbolic saddle points. It is found that this special quintic planar polynomial system has at least four large limit cycles which surround all singular points. By applying the double homoclinic loops bifurcation method and Hopf bifurcation method, we conclude that 28 limit cycles with two different configurations exist in this special planar polynomial system. The results acquired in this paper are useful for studying the weakened 16th Hilbert＇s Problem.

给出了可数状态空间中时间随机环境下可逗留随机游动的一个统一模型,对于一维紧邻时间随机环境下的随机游动,在一定的条件下,讨论它的极限性质和中心极限定理,该结论类似于空间随机环境下的随机游动的有关结论.     

Convergence of compressible Euler-Poisson system to incompressible Euler equations

In this paper, we study the quasi-neutral limit of compressible Euler-Poisson equations in plasma physics in the torus T^d. For well prepared initial data the convergence of solutions of compressible Euler-Poisson equations to the solutions of incompressible Euler equations is justified rigorously by an elaborate energy methods based on studies on an λ-weighted Lyapunov-type functional. One main ingredient of establishing uniformly a priori estimates with respect to λ is to use the curl-div decomposition of the gradient.     

Commutative cochains of germs of differential forms for Euclidean compacta

The purpose of the paper is for any compactum K⊂Rn to construct a space Cp(K) of commutative germs of C^∞-differential p-forms, which is a reflexive locally convex topological vector space with the Cp(K) as its dual.     

Bifurcation in the stable manifold of a chemostat with general polynomial yields

A three‐dimensional chemostat with nth‐ and mth‐order polynomial yields, instead of the particular ones such as A+BS, A+BS², A+BS³, A+BS⁴, A+BS² + CS³, and A+BSⁿ, is proposed. The existence of limit cycles in the two‐dimensional stable manifold, the Hopf bifurcation, and the stability of the periodic solution created by the bifurcation is proved. Examples of boundary layers associated with the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations

The author surveys a few examples of boundary layers for which the Prandtl boundary layer theory can be rigorously validated. All of them are associated with the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations for Newtonian fluids equipped with various Dirichlet boundary conditions (specified velocity). These examples include a family of (nonlinear 3D) plane parallel flows, a family of (nonlinear) parallel pipe flows, as well as flows with uniform injection and suction at the boundary. We also identify a key ingredient in establishing the validity of the Prandtl type theory, i.e., a spectral constraint on the approximate solution to the Navier-Stokes system constructed by combining the inviscid solution and the solution to the Prandtl type system. This is an additional difficulty besides the wellknown issue related to the well-posedness of the Prandtl type system. It seems that the main obstruction to the verification of the spectral constraint condition is the possible separation of boundary layers. A common theme of these examples is the inhibition of separation of boundary layers either via suppressing the velocity normal to the boundary or by injection and suction at the boundary so that the spectral constraint can be verified. A meta theorem is then presented which covers all the cases considered here.

本文主要讨论二项分布的参数估计问题.对GB/T 4087.1-1983,GB/T 4087.2-1983,GB/T4087.3-1985给出的经典二项分布参数点估计、区间估计和可靠度置信下限计算方法进行了分析,指出了其中存在的问题.根据二项分布的数学表达式推导出了二项分布参数的概率分布密度函数,在此基础上提出了进行二项分布参数估计的一般方法.
