There is a growing interest in extracting more power per turbine by increasing the rotor size in offshore wind turbines. As a result, the turbine blades will become longer and therefore more flexible, and a flexible blade is susceptible to flow-induced instabilities. In order to design and build stable large wind turbine blades, the onset of possible flow-induced instabilities should be considered in the design process. Currently, there is a lack of experimental work on flow-induced instabilities of wind turbine blades. In the present study, a series of experiments were conducted and flow-induced instabilities were observed in wind turbine blades. A small-scale flexible blade based on the NREL 5 MW reference wind turbine blade was built using three-dimensional printing technique. The blade was placed in the test section of a wind tunnel and was subjected to uniform oncoming flow, representing the case of a parked wind turbine blade. The blade׳s tip displacement was measured using a non-contacting displacement measurement device as the oncoming wind speed was increased. At a critical wind speed, the blade became unstable and experienced limit cycle oscillations. The amplitude of these oscillations increased with increasing wind speed. Both supercritical and subcritical dynamic instabilities were observed. The instabilities were observed at different angles of attack and for blades both with and without a geometric twist. It was found that the blade twist had a significant influence on the observed instability: a blade without a twist experienced a strong subcritical instability.  相似文献

采用拉伸涡亚格子尺度应力模型对湍流输运中的亚格子作用项进行模式化处理,发展了适用于可压多介质黏性流动和湍流的大涡模拟方法和代码MVFT(multi-viscous flow and turbulence)。利用MVFT代码对低密度流体界面不稳定性及其诱发的湍流混合问题进行了数值模拟。详细分析了扰动界面的发展,流场中冲击波的传播、相互作用、湍流混合区边界的演化规律,以及流场瞬时密度和湍动能的分布和发展。数值模拟获得的界面演化图像和流场中波系结构与实验结果吻合较好。三维和二维模拟结果的比较显示,两者得到的扰动界面位置、波系及湍流混合区边界基本一致,只是后期的界面构型有所不同,这也正说明湍流具有强三维效应。  相似文献

A finite element method based on ALE formulation has been adopted in order to examine the effect of periodic velocity excitation on the aerodynamic characteristics of an oscillating circular cylinder. Periodic excitation, which was placed on the cylinder surface, stimulated the separated shear layers around the cylinder, and numerical results showed that some excitation can reduce negative damping, which is caused by unsteady lift force, and thereby stabilize the aerodynamics of the cylinder. Furthermore, the change of lift phase caused by periodic excitation seems to be important in stabilizing the aerodynamics of the cylinder. The simulation also confirmed that periodic excitation can suppress the vortex-induced vibration of the cylinder.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this work, we present a localised form of the dynamic eddy viscosity model for computationally efficient and accurate simulation of the turbulent flows governed by Euler equations. In our framework, we determine the dynamic model coefficient locally using the information from neighbouring grid points through a test filtering process. We then develop an optimised Gaussian filtering kernel, using a consistent definition with respect to the test filtering ratio, which gives full attenuation at the grid cut-off wave number. A systematic a-posteriori analysis of our model is performed by solving two 3D test problems: (i) incompressible Taylor–Green vortex flow and (ii) compressible shear layer turbulence induced by Kelvin–Helmholtz instability to show the wide range of applicability of the proposed localised dynamic model. We demonstrate that the proposed dynamic model is robust and provides a better estimation of the inertial range turbulence dynamics than other numerical models tested in this study.  相似文献

In this paper, we deal with the effect of the shape of herd behavior on the interaction between predator and prey. The model analysis was studied in three parts. The first, The analysis of the system in the absence of spatial diffusion and the time delay, where the local stability of the equilibrium states, the existence of Hopf bifurcation have been investigated. For the second part, the spatiotemporal dynamics introduce by self diffusion was determined, where the existence of Hopf bifurcation, Turing driven instability, Turing-Hopf bifurcation point have been proved. Further, the order of Hopf bifurcation points and regions of the stability of the non trivial equilibrium state was given. In the last part of the paper, we studied the delay effect on the stability of the non trivial equilibrium, where we proved that the delay can lead to the instability of interior equilibrium state, and also the existence of Hopf bifurcation. A numerical simulation was carried out to insure the theoretical results.  相似文献

Complex spatiotemporal dynamics of a diffusive predator-prey system involving additional food supply to predator and intra-specific competition among predator, are investigated. We establish critical conditions of the occurrence of Turing instability, which are necessary and sufficient. Furthermore, we also establish conditions of the occurrence of codimension-2 Turing-Hopf bifurcation and Turing-Turing bifurcation, by exploring interactions of Turing bifurcations and Hopf bifurcation. For Turing-Hopf bifurcation, by analyzing normal form truncated to order 3 which are derived by applying normal form method, it is shown that under proper conditions, diffusive predator-prey system generates interesting spatial, temporal and spatiotemporal patterns, including a pair of spatially inhomogeneous steady states, a spatially homogeneous periodic solution and a pair of spatially inhomogeneous periodic solutions. And numerical simulations are also shown to support theory analysis. Moreover, it is found that proper intra-specific competition among predator helps generate complex spatiotemporal dynamics. And, proper additional food supply to predator helps control the population fluctuations of predator and prey, while large quantity and high quality of additional food supply will lead to the extinction of prey and make predator change the source of food, which finally destroy the ecosystem. These investigations might help understand complex spatiotemporal dynamics of predator-prey system involving additional food supply to predator and intra-specific competition among predator, and help conserve species in an ecosystem via supplying suitable additional food.  相似文献

Within the frame work of the second version of small precritical deformation in the three-dimensional linearized theory of stability of deformable bodies (TDLTSDB), the undulation instability problem for a simply supported rectangular plate made of a viscoelastic composite material is investigated in biaxial compression in the plate plane. The corresponding boundary-value problem is solved by employing the Laplace transformation and the principle of correspondence. For comparison and estimation of the accuracy of results given by the TDLTSDB, the same problem is also solved by using various approximate plate theories. The viscoelasticity properties of the plate material are described by the Rabotnov fractional-exponential operator. The numerical results and their discussion are presented for the case where the plate is made of a multilayered viscoelastic composite material. In particular, the variation range of problem parameters is established for which it is necessary to investigate the undulation instability of the viscoelastic composite plate by using the TDLTSDB. Influences of acoustic instabilities on premixed turbulent-flames have been studied experimentally in a Taylor–Couette (TC) combustor for downward flame propagation in a turbulent flow-field generated in the annulus between two cylinders. Flow-field velocities were measured at a fixed location upstream of the propagating flame using laser-doppler velocimetry, while flame speeds were determined from video-recorded images. It is found that the existence of pre-ignition turbulence in the combustor (generated by rotation of the combustor-cylinder walls) does not eliminate acoustic instabilities, however as the level of pre-ignition turbulence is increased the influence of the secondary acoustic instability on the turbulent-flame speed becomes insignificant. For low intensities of pre-ignition turbulence the flame is found to accelerate during the latter stages of flame propagation, while for high levels of pre-ignition turbulence the flame propagates at a statistically constant speed, even though velocity fluctuations have been substantially amplified by the time the flame reaches the bottom end of the combustor as a result of acoustic instability.  相似文献
