Asymptotic analysis of elastic curved rods

We consider a sequence of curved rods which consist of isotropic material and which are clamped on the lower base or on both bases. We study the asymptotic behaviour of the stress tensor and displacement under the assumptions of linearized elasticity when the cross‐sectional diameter of the rods tends to zero and the body force is given in the particular form. The analysis covers the case of a non‐smooth limit line of centroids. We show how the body force and the choice of the approximating curved rods can affect the strong convergence and the limit form of the stress tensor for the curved rods clamped on both bases. Towards Strong Duality in Integer Programming

We consider in this paper the Lagrangian dual method for solving general integer programming. New properties of Lagrangian duality are derived by a means of perturbation analysis. In particular, a necessary and sufficient condition for a primal optimal solution to be generated by the Lagrangian relaxation is obtained. The solution properties of Lagrangian relaxation problem are studied systematically. To overcome the difficulties caused by duality gap between the primal problem and the dual problem, we introduce an equivalent reformulation for the primal problem via applying a pth power to the constraints. We prove that this reformulation possesses an asymptotic strong duality property. Primal feasibility and primal optimality of the Lagrangian relaxation problems can be achieved in this reformulation when the parameter p is larger than a threshold value, thus ensuring the existence of an optimal primal-dual pair. We further show that duality gap for this partial pth power reformulation is a strictly decreasing function of p in the case of a single constraint. 一个组合分布模型及其参数估计

本文根据极值分布理论,提出了一个由原始分布和尾分布组成的组合分布模型,研究了组合分布模型中原始分布和尾分布的确定方法,建立了组合分布模型参数估计的加权最优化模型,实例计算说明,组合分布较好地反映了风险变量极值事件的风险。     

Large Sample Properties of Mixture Models with Covariates for Competing Risks

We study the large-sample properties of a class of parametric mixture models with covariates for competing risks. The models allow general distributions for the survival times and incorporate the idea of long-term survivors. Asymptotic results are obtained under a commonly assumed independent censoring mechanism and some modest regularity conditions on the survival distributions. The existence, consistency, and asymptotic normality of maximum likelihood estimators for the parameters of the model are rigorously derived under general sufficient conditions. Specific conditions for particular models can be derived from the general conditions for ready check. In addition, a likelihood-ratio statistic is proposed to test various hypotheses of practical interest, and its asymptotic distribution is provided.

Sums of Two Exact Powers

An asymptotic formula is obtained for the number of representations of an element of a finite field as a weighted sum of two prescribed powers of primitive elements. This generalises previous work on sums of primitive elements, including that relating to some conjectures of Golomb.     

NEW ALTERNATING DIRECTION FINITE ELEMENT SCHEME FOR NONLINEAR PARABOLIC EQUATION

A new alternating direction (AD) finite element (FE) scheme for 3-dimensional nonlinear parabolic equation and parabolic integro-differential equation is studied. By using AD, the 3-dimensional problem is reduced to a family of single space variable problems, calculation work is simplified; by using FE, high accuracy is kept; by using various techniques for priori estimate for differential equations such as inductive hypothesis reasoning, the difficulty arising from the nonlinearity is treated. For both FE and ADFE schemes, the convergence properties are rigorously demonstrated, the optimal H1-and L2-norm space estimates and the 0((△t)2) estimate for time variable are obtained.
