The present status of the new nuclear resonance beamline PETRA 1 at HASYLAB, DESY, Hamburg is described. Besides an overview of the experimental setup some examples of recent experiments are given. Those cover the main applications, i.e., inelastic scattering from iron alloys and quasielastic scattering from glass-forming liquids. The corrosion reaction of four Fe–Mn–Al alloys exposed to a cycling, dry–humid, SO2 (0.001% by volume) polluted atmosphere was studied. ICEMS, XPS, AES-SAM and transmission Mössbauer spectroscopy at different temperatures were employed to characterize the corrosion products. The analytical results indicate that (i) ferrihydrite is the main component of the rust; (ii) there is an abundant presence of Mn2+ and SO3 2–/SO4 2– on the top of the corrosion layer, the concentration of SO4 2– increasing with the number of cycles; and (iii) the magnetic hyperfine pattern exhibited by the series of low-temperature spectra of the rust is quite different from that observed in the rust formed under similar corrosive environments on iron and weathering steel. This latter finding is correlated with a slow rate of transformation of the Fe3+ species formed at the early stages of corrosion into -FeOOH, the usual final product of this type of corrosion processes. The sulphate anions, abundant inside the electrolyte during the wet periods, could be incorporated to the ferrihydrite structure being responsible for the Mössbauer spectral pattern recorded from the corrosion products at low temperatures.  相似文献

In this study, molecular dynamics (MD) was used to simulate the rapid solidification process of Ni47Co53 and Ni48Co52 alloys at a cooling rate of 1012 K/s. The effects of HCP on the formation of twin boundaries and dislocations in two Ni–Co alloys are studied. It is found that the difference of HCP clusters is the main effect that producing discrepancies on microstructure of two alloys. The number of HCP clusters accounted for 9.23% in Ni47Co53 alloy. They are regularly arranged to form the number of single-layer twin boundaries, and each twin boundary ends in a dislocation. The FCC and HCP structures coexist in the same atomic layers, which is easy to create dislocations. The relatively standard FCC crystal and only 0.32% HCP clusters are formed in Ni48Co52 alloy at 300 K. That small amount of HCP clusters are dispersed on the surface, and cause the formation of dislocation in the border with FCC clusters.  相似文献

The structural and electronic properties of the ternary SixGe1?xC alloys have been calculated using the full-potential linear muffin-tin-orbital (FP-LMTO) method based on density functional theory within both local density approximation (LDA) and generalised gradient approximation (GGA). The calculated equilibrium lattice constants and bulk moduli are compared with previous results. The concentration dependence of the electronic band structure and the direct and indirect band gaps are investigated. Using the approach of Zunger and co-workers, the microscopic origins of the band gap bowing are investigated also. Moreover, the refractive index and the optical dielectric constant for SixGe1?xC are studied. The thermodynamic stability of the alloys of interest is investigated by means of the miscibility. This is the first quantitative theoretical prediction to investigate the effective masses, optical and thermodynamic properties for SixGe1?xC alloy, and still awaits experimental confirmations.  相似文献

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) provides a sensitive tool by which microscopic bond rupture can be monitored simultaneously with observations of macroscopic deformation and failure. Past techniques for studying fracture in semicrystalline polymers have been extended to investigate degradation of unfilled ruber in the presence of ozone. It was found that the rate of free radical production was linearly proportional to stretch ratio and ozone concentration and that stress relaxation and creep were not directly proportional to this production rate. The latter behavior was attributed to the particular dependence of crack density and growth on stress. It was concluded that at low strains, comparatively few surface cracks form; however, at higher strains, many more crack centers become active. Although many more surface cracks are present, they do not progress into the material as rapidly. Therefore, although more bonds were broken at higher strains and stresses, the stress relaxation rate and creep rates were not significantly increased.  相似文献

Conversion electron Moessbauer spectroscopy (CEMS) is a method very suitable for the study of ion implanted iron. It is demonstrated on nitrogen and phosphorus implanted iron layers. Using this technique not the 14.4-keV-gamma-rays as in the case of the conventional Moessbauer transmission experiments but the conversion and Auger electrons are detected. These electrons have a maximum energy of 7.3 keV. The Moessbauer signal can be obtained from a surface layer of about 300 nm. But the main fraction of the signal, namely 65%, comes from the first 50 nm. This range is just interesting for ion implantation. Depending on the test conditions different iron nitrides are formed by the nitrogen implantation and the phosphorus implantation can result in both amorphization and compound formation in the implanted layer.  相似文献

The aging effects of atmospheric plasma treatments on UHMPE fibers are studied. UHMPE fibers are treated for 0.5 and 1 min with He/O2/air gas and for 2 and 4 min with He/air gas by atmospheric pressure plasma on a capacitively coupled device at a frequency of 5 kHz. The samples are tested for fiber/epoxy interfacial shear strength at time intervals of 0, 3, 15 and 30 days after initial plasma treatment. Scanning electron microscopy shows micro-cracks on each set of treated fibers, which is not affected by aging over the 30 day study. Interfacial shear strengths (IFSS) for plasma-treated fibers are 2–3 times as high as that of the control. The IFSS for the plasma treated fibers remains constant up to 15 days and then decreases afterwards. XPS Analysis shows a slight increase in atomic concentration of oxygen and nitrogen for each plasma-treated sample. For the He/O2/air plasma-treated samples, XPS analysis shows an observable increase in C–OH bonds, C=O bonds and COOH bonds, while for the He/air plasma-treated samples, there is a slight increase in C–OH and O=C–O bonds. After 30 days, a decrease in oxygen content for all plasma-treated samples is manifested.  相似文献

The precipitation microstructure of the γ′ (AlAg2) intermetallic phase has been examined in aluminium-silver-copper alloys. The microstructure developed in an Al-0.90at.%Ag-90at.Cu alloy was significantly different from that reported for binary Al-Ag alloys. The orientation relationship between the matrix and precipitate was unchanged; however, the γ′ phase formed assemblies with a two-dimensional, open arrangement of precipitates. Each such assembly contained two variants of the γ′ phase alternately arranged to form a faceted elliptical unit. The θ′ (Al2Cu) phase formed on these assemblies after further ageing. Each assembly was formed via repeated precipitation of the γ′ phase on dissociated segments of a single dislocation loop. This faceted elliptical assembly has not been previously reported for the γ′ precipitate. The difference between the precipitation behaviour of the γ′ phase in Al-Ag and Al-Ag-Cu alloys was attributed to copper modifying the as-quenched defect structure of the matrix. The formation of faceted elliptical γ′ phase assemblies clarifies earlier observations on the precipitate number density and mechanical properties of aluminium-silver-copper alloys.  相似文献
