Darstellung und Kristallstruktur von LnAl3Br12 (Ln = La,Ce, Pr,Nd, Sm,Gd) und thermischer Abbau zu LnBr3

Preparation and Crystal Structure of LnAl₃Br₁₂ (Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd) and Thermal Decomposition to LnBr₃ LnAl₃Br₁₂ (Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd) was prepared in crystalline form for the first time. The crystal structures of LaAl₃Br₁₂, PrAl₃Br₁₂, and NdAl₃Br₁₂ were determined on single crystals by X-ray methods. The isotypic compounds crystallize with trigonal symmetry, space group P 3₁12, Z = 3. A structural comparison to lanthanoide chloroaluminates of equal composition is given and thermal decomposition of LnAl₃Br₁₂ (Ln = Nd) to the corresponding lanthanoide tribromide is described.

Structures with AIB₂? and BaAl₄?type Units. I The Compounds Sr₄Pd₅P₅ and Sr₂Pd₃P₃ Sr₄Pd₅P₅ (Cmcm, a = 4.177(1) Å, b = 31.377(5) Å, c = 8.581(2) Å, Z = 4) und Sr₂ Pd₃P₃(Pmmm, a = 4.199(1) Å, b = 4.212(1) Å, c = 34.227(4) Å, Z = 4) have been prepared by heating the elements. Both structures contain exclusively units characteristic for the AIB_2? and BaAl₄?type. The ratio between isolated P-atoms and P₂?pairs is interpreted with an ionic splitting of the formulas.     

Analysis and Speciation of Traces of Arsenic in Environmental,Food and Industrial Samples by Voltammetry: a Review

Voltammetric approaches for the determination of arsenic and speciation at trace levels are critically appraised in a review covering the literature from 1970 to 2002. Special attention is devoted to stripping modes and to issues related to the choice of working material and supporting electrolyte. A section is dedicated to the management of real samples and aspects of sample preparation. An extensive compilation, organized by real sample type, gathers essential experimental conditions. Potentiometric stripping analysis is introduced for sake of comparison. The coupling of voltammetric detection or preaccumulation with FIA, chromatography, capillary electrophoresis and ICP techniques is also addressed.     

Li2H4I2O10, das erste Tetrahydrogendimesoperiodat

Li₂H₄I₂O₁₀, the First Tetrahydrogendimesoperiodate Li₂H₄I₂O₁₀ has been obtained as an intermediate during the dehydration of LiH₄IO₆ · H₂O to LiIO₄, for the first time. According to the results of an X-ray structure determination (monoclinic, P2₁/n, a = 533.98(4), b = 471.85(4), c = 1431.48(10) pm, β = 91.614(7)°, Z = 2, 726 diffractometer data, R = 0.056), Li₂H₄I₂O₁₀ contains the previously unknown tetrahydrogendimesoperiodate ion H₄I₂O₁₀^2?, consisting of two edge-shared IO₆ octahedra. They are connected with LiO₆ octahedra via common edges and vertices. The crystals are non-merohedrally twinned along (100).     

Retention behavior and solvent optimization of organochlorine pesticides in solid-phase extraction

Summary Plots of capacity factor and retention time vs. elution solvent composition were proved to be useful to interpret the retention behavior of Kepone and its metabolites in a reversed-phase solid-phase extraction and to optimize the elution solvent. The percent recovery of Kepone was largely improved when the solvent was optimized. The standard deviations of the results of extractions were also improved upon the optimization of the solvent.

A New Tricyclic Sulfur-rich Phosphane From the products of the reaction of P₄S₃ with tert-Butyliodide the compound (t-Bu(S)P)₂P₄S₃ was isolated in low yield. The compound is stable and has a structure related to the hydrocarbon brexane. By reaction with triphenylphosphin the compounds (t-BuP)(t-Bu(S)P)P₄S₃ and (t-BuP)₂P₄S₃ were obtained. The ³¹P-nmr spectra of all compounds were solved and used to determine the structure of the molecules. A complete set of ³¹P-nmr data is given.
