A molecular orbital study of the bonding in complexes of lithium with polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons

In a preliminary investigation of the bonding between the sub-lattices of lithium and of graphite in intercalation compounds, molecular orbital calculations are performed on systems of Li atoms complexed to one or both sides of polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons. Energy wells calculated reveal possible sites offered to the Li atoms above the aromatic plane to form complexes in both central and edge regions of the molecule. The influence of additional complexed Li atoms on the migratory tendency of a given Li atom is also investigated, and observations made on the effect of the complexed Li atoms on the C-C bonds of the hydrocarbon.     

Formation of periodic ring structures of relief and voids under laser vapor deposition of metallic films

The formation of periodic ring structures during laser-induced chemical vapor deposition of metals from metal carbonyl is observed experimentally and described by a theoretical model.

自主性问题一直是外语教学的热门话题，教师自主和学生自主能否实现是关系到我国大学英语教学改革成功与否的关键因素之一。本文通过分析当前大学英语教育的现状，指出学生自主很大程度上取决于教师自主，教师在英语教学中扮演着传授者、组织者、启发者、合作者的角色。     

Production of a highly polarized sodium atomic beam

Two experimental techniques for preparing atoms in selected states were combined in order to obtain a highly polarized sodium beam: Firstly state selection by an inhomogeneous magnetic field and secondly optical pumping with laser light. This results in a dominating population of the 3s ² S _1/2 ground state levelF=2M _F=+2 (or alternativelyF=2M _F=−2) corresponding to high electron as well as nuclear spin polarization. Polarization values of 0.85±0.05 were easily obtained. The sign of the polarization can be reversed by changing the light polarization. The method can also be applied to other atoms. In addition, it is demonstrated that the optical pumping process allows a determination of the spin-selectivity of hexapole magnets.
