An analysis has been carried out to study the momentum and heat transfer characteristics in an incompressible electrically conducting non-Newtonian boundary layer flow of a viscoelastic fluid over a stretching sheet. The partial differential equations governing the flow and heat transfer characteristics are converted into highly non-linear coupled ordinary differential equations by similarity transformations. The effect of variable fluid viscosity, Magnetic parameter, Prandtl number, variable thermal conductivity, heat source/sink parameter and thermal radiation parameter are analyzed for velocity, temperature fields, and wall temperature gradient. The resultant coupled highly non-linear ordinary differential equations are solved numerically by employing a shooting technique with fourth order Runge–Kutta integration scheme. The fluid viscosity and thermal conductivity, respectively, assumed to vary as an inverse and linear function of temperature. The analysis reveals that the wall temperature profile decreases significantly due to increase in magnetic field parameter. Further, it is noticed that the skin friction of the sheet decreases due to increase in the Magnetic parameter of the flow characteristics.  相似文献

The paper presents the transportation of viscoelastic fluid with fractional Maxwell model by peristalsis through a channel under long wavelength and low Reynolds number approximations. The propagation of wall of channel is taken as sinusoidal wave propagation (contraction and relaxation). Homotopy perturbation method (HPM) and Adomian decomposition method (ADM) are used to obtain the analytical approximate solutions of the problem. The expressions of axial velocity, volume flow rate and pressure gradient are obtained. The effects of fractional parameters (α), relaxation time (λ1) and amplitude (?) on the pressure difference and friction force across one wavelength are calculated numerically for different particular cases and depicted through graphs.  相似文献

Abstract

Poly(ethylene glycol‐co‐cyclohexane‐1,4‐dimethanol terephthalate)(PETG)/clay nanocomposites were prepared via melt intercalation technique. The effects of concentration of the organic modifier in the clay on the properties of the nanocomposites were studied. Three clays modified using the same alkyl ammonium modifier, but differing in modifier concentration, are used for this purpose. The nanocomposites are characterized using wide‐angle x‐ray diffraction for their structure. Dynamic mechanical analysis of these nanocomposites is also studied to investigate their viscoelastic behaviors. The x‐ray diffraction study shows an increase in the interlayer spacing of organically modified clays as compared to that of Na+ clay. The extent of increase in the interlayer spacing is dependent on the concentration of organic modifier used to modify the montmorillonite. The presence of well‐defined diffraction peaks and the observed increase in the interlayer spacing in the nanocomposites imply the formation of an intercalated hybrid. Dynamic mechanical properties show an increase in the storage modulus of the nanocomposite over the entire temperature range studied, as compared to the pristine polymer. Investigation of the rubbery plateau modulus confirms the reinforcing effect of organically modified clay. The observed enhancement in the modulus was greater for the clay with the lowest content of the organic modifier. These results indicate that in nanocomposites, apart from the compatibility of the organic modifier with the polymer, its concentration in the interlayer also plays a critical role in the structure development and thus in the enhancement of the properties. The nanocomposites showed reduced damping, which was governed by the modifier concentration in the clay.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to study the Cauchy problem for the viscoelastic wave equation for structural $\delta$-evolution models. By using the energy method in the Fourier spaces, we obtain the decay estimates of the solution to considered problem.  相似文献

Ultrasonic irradiation of a water-soluble corn hull xylan fraction in neutral and alkaline aqueous medium has been found to produce significant changes in its molecular properties. Degradation is first manifested by a decrease in the large molar mass component under generation of polymer chains with about the same size as those of the main molar mass component. The latter is slightly shifted to the lower molar mass region only at stronger irradiation conditions. Ultrasonication of the xylan in neutral aqueous medium at high ultrasound power and/or long irradiation caused no significant changes in its sugar composition, primary structure and viscoelastic properties.  相似文献

The surface of calcium carbonate(CaCO_3)particles was modified with stearic acid(SA)and the chemical structures of the product were characterized by FT-IR analysis. The interaction between polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)and CaCO_3 fillers with different surface character was investigated by means of dynamic rheological and bound rubber tests for uncured compounds and mechanical properties measurements for the corresponding vulcanites. The results of dynamic tests indicate that with the increase of SA mass fract...  相似文献

This work concerns the control of sound transmission through double laminated panels with viscoelastic core using semi-passive piezoelectric shunt technique. More specifically, the system consists of two laminated walls, each one composed of three layers and called sandwich panel with an air cavity in between. The external sandwich panel has a surface-mounted piezoelectric patches. The piezoelectric elements, connected with resonant shunt circuits, are used for the vibration damping of some specific resonance frequencies of the coupled system. Firstly, a finite element formulation of the fully coupled visco-electro-mechanical-acoustic system is presented. This formulation takes into account the frequency dependence of the viscoelastic material. A modal reduction approach is then proposed to solve the problem at a lower cost. In the proposed technique, the coupled system is solved by projecting the mechanical displacement unknown on a truncated basis composed by the first real short-circuit structural normal modes and the pressure unknown on a truncated basis composed by the first acoustic modes with rigid boundaries conditions. The few initial electrical unknowns are kept in the reduced system. A static correction is also introduced in order to take into account the effect of higher modes. Various results are presented in order to validate and illustrate the efficiency of the proposed finite element reduced order formulation.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the initial boundary value problem for a viscoelastic wave equation with nonlinear boundary source term. First of all, we introduce a family of potential wells and prove the invariance of some sets. Then we establish the existence and nonexistence of global weak solution with small initial energy under suitable assumptions on the relaxation function , nonlinear function , the initial data and the parameters in the equation. Furthermore, we obtain the global existence of weak solution for the problem with critical initial conditions and .  相似文献

We investigate the interaction between a viscoelastic Oldroyd-B fluid and an elastic structure via simulations applying an implicit partitioned coupling algorithm. Simulations are done for a flow through a channel with a flexible wall and a lid-driven cavity flow with flexible bottom. In addition, we make use of a mass–spring–dashpot prototype model to study the dynamic interaction problem. Both the simulation results and the analysis of the prototype model show that there are obvious differences in the fluid–structure interaction if the fluids are viscoelastic instead of purely viscous. These differences appear in the deformation of the solid at stationary state and in the equilibrium position, amplitude, frequency as well as phase shift of the oscillation. Moreover, we investigate the influence of numerical and physical parameters on the implicit partitioned coupling algorithm for simulation of viscoelastic fluid–structure interaction problems.  相似文献
