Differential operators on Hilbert modular forms

We investigate differential operators and their compatibility with subgroups of SL₂n(R). In particular, we construct Rankin-Cohen brackets for Hilbert modular forms, and more generally, multilinear differential operators on the space of Hilbert modular forms. As an application, we explicitly determine the Rankin-Cohen bracket of a Hilbert-Eisenstein series and an arbitrary Hilbert modular form. We use this result to compute the Petersson inner product of such a bracket and a Hilbert modular cusp form.     

On the torsion of Jacobians of principal modular curves of level 3<Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">n</Emphasis></Superscript>

We demonstrate that the 3-power torsion points of the Jacobians of the principal modular curves X(3ⁿ) are fixed by the kernel of the canonical outer Galois representation of the pro-3 fundamental group of the projective line minus three points. The proof proceeds by demonstrating the curves in question satisfy a two-part criterion given by Anderson and Ihara. Two proofs of the second part of the criterion are provided; the first relies on a theorem of Shimura, while the second uses the moduli interpretation. Received: 30 September 2005     

The Sheffer group and the Riordan group

We define the Sheffer group of all Sheffer-type polynomials and prove the isomorphism between the Sheffer group and the Riordan group. An equivalence of the Riordan array pair and generalized Stirling number pair is also presented. Finally, we discuss a higher dimensional extension of Riordan array pairs.     

Invariant measures for equicontinuous semigroups of continuous transformations of a compact Hausdorff space

Equicontinuous semigroups of transformations of a compact Hausdorff space and their sets of all invariant (Borel, regular and probabilistic) measures are studied. Conditions equivalent to the existence of at least one invariant measure are given. The (algebraic and topological) structure of the set of invariant measures is researched.     

On Le’s and Bugeaud’s Papers about the Equation ax 2?+ b 2m?1 ?=?4 c p

 We correct an inaccuracy in the papers of Le, Mignotte, and Bugeaud on the generalized Ramanujan-Nagell equation. Received June 23, 2001     

A multiple character sum and a multipleL-function

In this paper we introduce a certain sum by using Dirichlet characters. We investigate the Riesz mean of the sum using the analytic properties of the MultipleL-function systematically. Eine überarbeitete Fassung ging am 6. 8. 2001 ein     

On the index of composition of integers from various sets

Given an integer n ≥ 2, let λ(n) := (log n)/(log γ(n)), where γ(n) = Π _p|n p, stand for the index of composition of n, with λ(1) = 1. We study the distribution function of (λ(n) – 1) log n as n runs through particular sets of integers, such as the shifted primes, the values of a given irreducible cubic polynomial and the shifted powerful numbers. On the Metrical Theory of Continued Fraction Mixing Fibred Systems and Its Application to Jacobi-Perron Algorithm

 We study the metrical theory of fibred systems, in particular, in the case of continued fraction mixing systems. We get the limit distribution of the largest value of a continued fraction mixing stationary stochastic process with infinite expectation and some related results. These are analogous to J. Galambos, W. Philipp, and H. G. Diamond–J. D. Vaaler theorems for the regular continued fractions. As an application, we see that these theorems hold for Jacobi-Perron algorithm.
