A hydrophilic emulsion‐templated porous polymer (polyHIPE) is synthesized by CuAAC “click” chemistry. Herein, a 4,4′‐diazidostilbene‐2,2′‐disulfonic acid disodium salt‐4H2O (DAS) and tripropargylamine in the mixture of water and N,N‐dimethylformamide solution is used as external phase of the high internal phase emulsion template, and paraffin liquid is involved as the internal phase. The resulting polyHIPE has a well‐defined interconnected pore structure, which could be tailored by changing preparation parameters, such as reagent content, internal phase volume fraction, and surfactant concentration. Thermal analysis shows that the polyHIPE is stable under 180 °C. Owing to the presence of a large number of sodium sulfonate groups from the reagent DAS and the triazoles groups produced in the reaction, the polyHIPE is proved to be a highly efficient adsorbent of heavy metal ion (i.e., up to 52 mg/g for Cu(II) ions) in water. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The cyclic amphiphilic polymers with azobenzene in main chain, cyclic azobenzene tetraethylene glycol polystyrene (cyclic‐Azo‐TEG‐PS) with different molecular weights, were successfully synthesized by combining atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) and Cu (I)‐catalyzed azide/alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC). Gel permeation chromatography (GPC), proton nuclear resonance (1H NMR), Fourier transform‐infrared (FT‐IR), and matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization time of flight (MALDI‐TOF) mass spectrometry were used to prove the complete conversion from linear polymers to cyclic ones. The thermal properties and photoisomerization behaviors of obtained cyclic polymers have been investigated by comparison with the linear analogues. The cyclic polymer displayed a higher glass transition temperature compared with the linear one, measured by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). It was found that the trans‐to‐cis and cis‐to‐trans isomerization of cyclic polymers was both slower than that of their respective linear counterparts upon irradiation by UV/visible light. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We consider the stability of a porous medium submitted to a steady-state flow with free-boundary. Assuming some hypotheses, it is possible to implement the kinematic method by using an approximate pressure field bounding the true pressure field from below. We are interested in finding such approximate pressure fields and in proving that they bound the true pressure field from below without knowing the true pressure field. We use fields which are solutions of a problem with relaxed conditions with regard to the real problem. Under a uniqueness condition of the solution of a weak formulation of the problem, such fields are lower bounds for the true pressure field. Finally, we give the example of a vertical dam. The slow migration of N spherical bubbles under combined buoyancy and thermocapillarity effects is investigated by appealing solely to 3N+1 boundary-integral equations. In addition to the theory and the associated implementation strategy, preliminary numerical results are both presented and discussed for a few clusters involving 2, 3, 4 or 5 bubbles with a special attention paid to the case of rigid configurations. For a three-dimensional exterior problem in the framework of anisotropic elasticity, artificial boundary conditions are constructed on a polyhedral truncation surface. For a car manufacturer, reducing the weight of vehicles is an obvious aim. Replacing steel by aluminium moves towards that goal. Unfortunately, aluminium's stamping numerical simulation results are not yet as reliable as those of steel. Punch-strength and spring-back phenomena are not correctly described. This study on aluminium validates the behaviour law Hill 48 quadratic yield criterion with both isotropic and kinematic hardening. In this work, we study the motion of N localized vortices in the presence of ‘noise’. To apply the methods of statistical mechanics, we determine the evolution equation for the probability density function of vortices in which the presence of the ‘noise’ is accounted for by as a term similar to viscosity. This equation is isomorph to the system of equations which describe 2D turbulence with viscosity. A high-order implementation of the Discontinuous Galerkin (dg) method is presented for solving the three-dimensional Linearized Euler Equations on an unstructured hexahedral grid. The method is based on a quadrature free implementation and the high-order accuracy is obtained by employing higher-degree polynomials as basis functions. The present implementation is up to fourth-order accurate in space. For the time discretization a four-stage Runge–Kutta scheme is used which is fourth-order accurate. Non-reflecting boundary conditions are implemented at the boundaries of the computational domain.The method is verified for the case of the convection of a 1D compact acoustic disturbance. The numerical results show that the rate of convergence of the method is of order p+1 in the mesh size, with p the order of the basis functions. Forced convection heat transfer in fully developed flows of viscous dissipating fluids in concentric annular ducts is analyzed analytically. Special attention has been paid to the effect of the viscous dissipation. Two different cases of the thermal boundary conditions are considered: uniform heat flux at the outer wall and adiabatic inner wall (Case A) and uniform heat flux at the inner wall and adiabatic outer wall (Case B). Solutions for the velocity and temperature distributions and the Nusselt number are obtained for different values of the aspect ratio and the Brinkman number. The present analytical results for the case without the viscous dissipation effect are compared with those available in the literature and an excellent agreement is observed. To cite this article: M.
