A finite volume solver for the 2D depth‐integrated harmonic hyperbolic formulation of the mild‐slope equation for wave propagation is presented and discussed. The solver is implemented on unstructured triangular meshes and the solution methodology is based upon a Godunov‐type second‐order finite volume scheme, whereby the numerical fluxes are computed using Roe's flux function. The eigensystem of the mild‐slope equations is derived and used for the construction of Roe's matrix. A formulation that updates the unknown variables in time implicitly is presented, which produces a more accurate and reliable scheme than hitherto available. Boundary conditions for different types of boundaries are also derived. The agreement of the computed results with analytical results for a range of wave propagation/transformation problems is very good, and the model is found to be virtually paraxiality‐free. In this paper the steady-state behavior of a closed queueing network with multiple classes and large populations is investigated. One of the two nodes of the network simply introduces random delays and the discipline in the other node is discriminatory processor sharing. The network is not product-form, so not even the steady-state behavior is known. We assume that the usage is moderately heavy, and obtain two-term asymptotic approximations to the mean number of jobs, and the mean sojourn time, of each class of jobs in the processor node. We also obtain the leading term in the asymptotic approximation to the joint distribution of the number of jobs in the processor node, which is a zero-mean multivariate Gaussian distribution around a line through the origin. 相似文献

This paper seeks to solve the difficult nonlinear problem in financial markets on the complex system theory and the nonlinear
dynamics principle, with the data-model-concept-practice issue-oriented reconstruction of the phase space by the high frequency
trade data. In theory, we have achieved the differentiable manifold geometry configuration, discovered the Yang-Mills functional
in financial markets, obtained a meaningful conserved quantity through corresponding space-time non-Abel localization gauge
symmetry transformation, and derived the financial solitons, which shows that there is a strict symmetry between manifold
fiber bundle and guage field in financial markets. In practical applications of financial markets, we have repeatedly carried
out experimental tests in a fluctuant evolvement, directly simulating and validating the existence of solitons by researching
the price fluctuations (society phenomena) using the same methods and criterion as in natural science and in actual trade
to test the stock Guangzhou Proprietary and the futures Fuel Oil in China. The results demonstrate that the financial solitons
discovered indicates that there is a kind of new substance and form of energy existing in financial trade markets, which likely
indicates a new science paradigm in the economy and society domains beyond physics.

Exterior tomographic data are taken over lines outside a central region, and such data occur in the industrial nondestructive evaluation of large objects such as rockets. We explain, using microlocal analysis, which singularities are well reconstructed from exterior data, and we explain how this phenomenon is reflected in the singular value decomposition for the exterior transform [E.T. We consider goodness of fit tests for the Rayleigh distribution with grouped data. New Kolmogrov–Smirnov type tests are suggested and compared with the traditional chi-square and likelihood ratio tests. We analyze the performance of a prototypical scheme for shared storage allocation: two initially empty stacks evolving in a contiguous block of memory of size m. We treat the case in which the stacks are more likely to shrink than grow, but with the probabilities of insertion and deletion allowed to depend arbitrarily on stack height as a fraction of m. New results are obtained on the m → ∞ asymptotics of the stack collision time, and of the final stack heights. The results of Wentzell and Freidlin on the large deviations of Markov chains are used, and the relation of their formalism to the Hamiltonian formulation of classical mechanics is emphasized. We have prepared spherical non-agglomerated silver nanoparticles by an evaporation–condensation–dilution/cooling technique. Silver was evaporated from a crucible in a tubular flow reactor. A porous tube diluter was used to quench the carrier gas at the outlet of the reactor to enhance the formation of small particles and to suppress agglomeration and other particle growth mechanisms. The number size distribution of the prepared particles was measured with a differential mobility analyser–condensation nucleus counter combination and the size and the shape of the particles were analysed with transmission electron microscope. The system was modelled using a sectional aerosol dynamics computer code to estimate the importance of different aerosol processes. In all conditions the particles obtained were non-agglomerated and spherical. The mean particle diameter varied from 4 to 10-nm depending on boundary conditions. From the modelling studies it can be concluded that the nucleation rate is the most important parameter controlling the final particle size. 相似文献
