Guaiane-type sesquiterpenoid glucosides from Gardenia jasminoides Ellis

Two new guaiane-type sesquiterpenoid glucosides (1 and 2) were isolated from the fruit of Gardenia jasminoides Ellis. Their structures were elucidated to be (1R,7R,10S)-11-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-4-guaien-3-one (1) and (1R,7R,10S)-7-hydroxy-11-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-4-guaien-3-one (2) by one- and two-dimensional NMR techniques ((1)H NMR, (13)C NMR, HSQC, HMBC and NOESY), MS, CD spectrometry and chemical methods.     

Synthesis, spectroscopic characterization, DFT studies and biological assays of a novel gold(I) complex with 2-mercaptothiazoline

A new gold(I) complex with 2-mercaptothiazoline (MTZ) with the coordination formula [AuCN(C₃H₅NS₂)] was synthesized and characterized by chemical and spectroscopic measurements, DFT studies and biological assays. Infrared (IR) and ¹H, ¹³C and ¹⁵N nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopic measurements indicate coordination of the ligand to gold(I) through the nitrogen atom. Studies based on DFT confirmed nitrogen coordination to gold(I) as a minimum of the potential energy surface with calculations of the hessians showing no imaginary frequencies. Thermal decomposition starts at temperatures near 160 °C, leading to the formation of Au⁰ as the final residue at 1000 °C. The gold(I) complex with 2-mercaptothiazoline (Au-MTZ) is soluble in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), and is insoluble in water, methanol, ethanol, acetonitrile and hexane. The antibacterial activities of the Au-MTZ complex were evaluated by an antibiogram assay using the disc diffusion method. The compound showed an effective antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus (Gram-positive) and Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Gram-negative) bacterial cells. Biological analysis for evaluation of the cytotoxic effect of the Au-MTZ complex was performed using HeLa cells derived from human cervical adenocarcinoma. The complex presented a potent cytotoxic activity, inducing 85% of cell death at a concentration of 2.0 μmol L⁻¹.     

热处理对La0.63Gd0.2Mg0.17Ni3.1Co0.3Al0.1储氢合金微观组织和电化学性能的影响

在氩气气氛和1173 K保温条件下对La0.63 Gd0.2 Mg0.17Ni3.1 Co0.3 Al0.1储氢合金进行不同时间(t=8 ～168 h)的热处理,采用电感耦合等离子发射光谱(ICP)、X射线衍射(XRD)、电子探针显微分析方法(EPMA)和电化学测试分析方法对比研究了退火时间对合金显微组织演化和电化学性能的影响.研究结果表明,铸态合金组织由Ce2 Ni7型、Gd2Co7型、Pr5 Co19型、PuNi3型和CaCu5型相组成,其Ce2 Ni7型相的丰度为78.9％,随退火时间的延长,退火合金中Ce2 Ni7型相的丰度逐渐增加,当退火时间t=168 h时其相丰度达到94.5％,Ce2 Ni7型相结构的晶胞参数和晶胞体积随退火时间增加而减小.电化学测试分析表明,退火合金电极的电化学性能与Ce2 Ni7型相的丰度有密切关系,退火时间对合金电极的活化性能影响不大,但合金电极放电容量随退火时间的延长逐渐提高,当t=168 h时,合金电极放电容量达到最大值386.8mAh·g-1;退火时间对合金电极循环稳定性的提高和改善有不同程度的影响,当退火时间t=16～168 h时,经100次充放电循环后,其电极容量保持率S100=90.3％～91.5％.热处理能有效改善合金电极电化学反应的动力学性能,但不同退火时间对合金电极的高倍率放电性能影响不明显.     

Development and validation of a ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-UV method for the detection and quantification of erectile dysfunction drugs and some of their analogues found in counterfeit medicines

Pharmaceutical counterfeiting is a permanently growing problem. Control laboratories are constantly analysing counterfeit medicines. In industrialised countries, one of the main counterfeited class of medicines are erectile dysfunction drugs. This paper describes the development and validation of a fast method to detect and quantify the three authorised phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors and five analogues. The method is based on the use of a sub-2 microns polar-embedded column with a gradient using acetonitrile as organic modifier and 10 mM ammonium formate buffer (pH 3.5) as aqueous component of the mobile phase. The separation was achieved in less than 4.5 min. The method has also been compared to the registered HPLC method for the assay of Viagra^® which was considered as the reference method. The method is also compatible with on-line coupling mass spectrometry and will significantly reduce analysis times and solvent consumption.     

Bounded mean oscillation and bandlimited interpolation in the presence of noise

We study some problems related to the effect of bounded, additive sample noise in the bandlimited interpolation given by the Whittaker-Shannon-Kotelnikov (WSK) sampling formula. We establish a generalized form of the WSK series that allows us to consider the bandlimited interpolation of any bounded sequence at the zeros of a sine-type function. The main result of the paper is that if the samples in this series consist of independent, uniformly distributed random variables, then the resulting bandlimited interpolation almost surely has a bounded global average. In this context, we also explore the related notion of a bandlimited function with bounded mean oscillation. We prove some properties of such functions, and in particular, we show that they are either bounded or have unbounded samples at any positive sampling rate. We also discuss a few concrete examples of functions that demonstrate these properties.

Generalized potentials in variable exponent Lebesgue spaces on homogeneous spaces

We consider generalized potential operators with the kernel on bounded quasimetric measure space (X, μ, d) with doubling measure μ satisfying the upper growth condition μB(x, r) ? Kr^N, N ∈ (0, ∞). Under some natural assumptions on a(r) in terms of almost monotonicity we prove that such potential operators are bounded from the variable exponent Lebesgue space L^p(?)(X, μ) into a certain Musielak‐Orlicz space L^p(X, μ) with the N‐function Φ(x, r) defined by the exponent p(x) and the function a(r). A reformulation of the obtained result in terms of the Matuszewska‐Orlicz indices of the function a(r) is also given. © 2011 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim     

Closure properties of operators on the Ma-Minda type starlike and convex functions

A normalized univalent function f is called Ma-Minda starlike or convex if zf^′(z)/f(z)?φ(z) or 1+zf^″(z)/f^′(z)?φ(z) where φ is a convex univalent function with φ(0)=1. The class of Ma-Minda convex functions is shown to be closed under certain operators that are generalizations of previously studied operators. Analogous inclusion results are also obtained for subclasses of starlike and close-to-convex functions. Connections with various earlier works are made.     

Identities for the Widder transform and transforms with Bessel function kernels

In the present paper, we consider the classical Widder transform, the H_ν-transform, the K_ν-transform, and the Y_ν-transform. Some identities involving these transforms and many others are given. By making use of these identities, a number of new Parseval-Goldstein type identities are obtained for these and other well-known integral transforms.
