In this paper, by the Darboux transformation together with the Wronskian technique, we construct new double Wronskian solutions for the Whitham-Broer-Kaup (WBK) system. Some new determinant identities are developed in the verification of the solutions. Based on analyzing the asymptotic behavior of new double Wronskian functions as t → ±∞, we make a complete characterization of asymptotic solitons for the non-singular, non-trivial and irreducible soliton solutions. It turns out that the solutions are the linear superposition of two fully-resonant multi-soliton configurations, in each of which the amplitudes, velocities and numbers of asymptotic solitons are in general not equal as t → ±∞. To illustrate, we present the figures for several examples of soliton interactions occurring in the WBK system.  相似文献

Recently we have reported on the existence of finite energy SU(2) Yang–Mills–Higgs particle of one-half topological charge. In this paper, we show that this one-half monopole can co-exist with a ’t Hooft–Polyakov monopole. The magnetic charge of the one-half monopole is of opposite sign to the magnetic charge of the ’t Hooft–Polyakov monopole. However the net magnetic charge of the configuration is zero due to the presence of a semi-infinite Dirac string along the positive zz-axis that carries the other half of the magnetic monopole charge. The solution possesses gauge potentials that are singular along the zz-axis, elsewhere they are regular. The total energy is found to increase with the strength of the Higgs field self-coupling constant λλ. However the dipole separation and the magnetic dipole moment decrease with λλ. This solution is non-BPS even in the BPS limit when the Higgs self-coupling constant vanishes.  相似文献

We consider a class of generalized KdV equations with a small parameter and nonlinearities of the type um. We create a finite differences scheme to simulate the solution of the Cauchy problem and present some numerical results for the problem of the solitary waves interaction. In particular, we consider sufficient condition under which pairs of solitary waves interact, in the asymptotic sense, in accordance with the soliton scenario.  相似文献

Experimental observations of solitons in stimulated Raman scattering are reported. Soliton formation resulted from the introduction of a phase shift in the incident Stokes beam as predicted by theory. Pulse sharpening and retardation on propagation in the Raman medium have been observed along with amplitude diminution. The first two features were predicted and the third was not. Spontaneous soliton formation has been observed in the absense of any amplitude modulation or apparent phase shift in the optical fields, indicating that additional sets of initial conditions may result in soliton formation.Work performed under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Energy.  相似文献

The soliton perturbation theory is used to study and analyze the stochastic perturbation of optical solitons in addition to deterministic perturbations of optical solitons that are governed by the nonlinear Schro¨dinger's equation. 从光纤双折射参量、背景光宽度、孤子脉冲宽度三方面探讨暗孤子在双折射光纤中远距离传输特性研究表明:相对于亮孤子,暗孤子对光纤双折射的自适应能力较弱;背景光宽度越大,暗脉冲与背景光对比度越好,暗孤子越能保持原来黑孤子状态;暗孤子脉冲宽度越大,偏振脉冲之间的差分群时延越大,诱导的灰孤子震荡结构越明显,越不利于暗孤子远距离传输.  相似文献

The equal width equation is solved numerically by Petrov-Galerkin method using linear hat function and quadratic B-spline function as trial and test functions respectively. Product approximation has been used in this method. A linear stability analysis of the scheme is shown to be conditionally stable. Test problems including the single soliton and the interaction of solitons are used to validate the suggested method, which is found to be accurate and efficient. The Maxwellian initial condition pulse and the development of an undular bore are also studied.  相似文献

Under investigation in this paper is a generalized (3+1)-dimensional variable-coefficient B-type Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation, which describes the propagation of nonlinear waves in fluid dynamics. Excitation of nonlinear waves in a quantum dusty plasma with various effects is analyzed when the geometry is cylindrical.This introduces the effect of finite boundary conditions on the solitary waves so generated. it is observed that the nonlinear equation deduced is cylindrical KP–Burger type leading to the generation of Shock Wave.
