The nonlinear spin excitations in an anisotropic helimagnet in the presence of a constant magnetic field are investigated in the classical continuum limit. The helical character is introduced into the model, in analogy with the twist in a cholesteric liquid crystal. After deriving a class of spin wave solutions for the stereographic representation of the Landau-Lifshitz equation, in-plane stationary spin configurations are obtained and their stability is analysed. When the external magnetic field is along the anisotropic axis, modulational instability is observed in the spin lattice, and when the external magnetic field is normal to the anisotropic axis, the spin configurations are unstable. The perturbed spin components show fluctuations in the tail region, while the velocity and amplitude of the soliton remain unaltered.  相似文献

Considering the propagation of ultrashort pulse in the realistic fiber optics, a generalized variable-coefficient higher-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation is investigated in this paper. Under certain constraints, a new 3×3 Lax pair for this equation is obtained through the Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur procedure. Furthermore, with symbolic computation, the Darboux transformation and nth-iterated potential transformation formula for such a model are explicitly derived. The corresponding features of ultrashort pulse in inhomogeneous optical fibers are graphically discussed by the one- and two-soliton-like solutions.  相似文献

Propagation of weakly nonlinear long waves is studied within the framework of a system of two coupled modified Korteweg-de Vries equations. We investigate analytically and numerically the various families of soliton states for the considered model. By scaling the functions and variables we find that the resulting coupled pair of equations has only one combined parameter. This parameter depends on the wave speed and the coupling coefficient. Explicit analytical expressions for both of the symmetric and antisymmetric states are determined. Numerical method is derived to solve the proposed system, many numerical tests have been conducted to study the behavior of the solution, and the existence of the asymmetric soliton states is displayed numerically.  相似文献

The extended tanh method with a computerized symbolic computation is used for constructing the traveling wave solutions of coupled nonlinear equations arising in physics. In this paper, the one- and two-periodic wave solutions for the (3+1)-dimensional Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation are presented by means of the Hirota’s bilinear method and the Riemann theta function. A computer simulation of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation is carried out to evaluate the impact of nonlinear susceptibility of a single mode fiber on the transmission of a soliton pulse. The third and fifth order nonlinear susceptibilities are considered in the simulation. The results show that the output soliton pulse shape strongly depends on the third order nonlinear susceptibility and gets distorted when the full width half maximum (FWHM) pulse width is of the order of 10ps or less.  相似文献

The soliton perturbation theory is used to study and analyze the stochastic perturbation of optical solitons in addition to deterministic perturbations of optical solitons that are governed by the nonlinear Schro¨dinger's equation. The Langevin equations are derived and analyzed. The deterministic perturbations that are considered here are of both Hamiltonian as well as of non-Hamiltonian type.  相似文献

We respectively investigate breakup and switching of the Manakov-typed bound vector solitons (BVSs) induced by two types of stochastic perturbations: the homogenous and nonhomogenous. Symmetry-recovering is discovered for the asymmetrical homogenous case, while soliton switching is found to relate with the perturbation amplitude and soliton coherence. Simulations show that soliton switching in the circularly-polarized light system is much weaker than that in the Manakov and linearly-polarized systems. In addition, the homogenous perturbations can enhance the soliton switching in both of the Manakov and non-integrable (linearly- and circularly-polarized) systems. Our results might be helpful in interpreting dynamics of the BVSs with stochastic noises in nonlinear optics or with stochastic quantum fluctuations in Bose–Einstein condensates.  相似文献
