Faster than Light Neutrinos

In September, the OPERA experiment in Italy claimed to have observed neutrinos which travel faster than light. Strong experimental constraints are placed by neutrinos observed from the supernova SN1987A and from various terrestrial and astrophysical measurements of synchrotron radiation. I will review the many experimental and theoretical challenges faced by any theory which attempts to explain this result, and speculate on just which theories may succeed.     

Phosphorus gettering of precipitated Cu in single crystalline silicon based on rapid thermal process

In this paper, we have investigated the effect of phosphorus diffusion gettering on the precipitated Cu in silicon via rapid thermal process (RTP). It is found that, for dot-like or star-like precipitates, the RTP-based phosphorus diffusion technique is efficient for gettering out the precipitated Cu. A two-step RTP gettering process is much more effective than a single-step RTP process. Furthermore, the choice of oxygen ambient can enhance the Cu gettering efficiency due to the involvement of considerable self-interstitial silicon atoms. The minority carrier lifetime of the sample subjected to RTP-based phosphorus gettering has also been verified to be significantly enhanced. These results are of interest for the gettering engineering of high-efficiency silicon solar cells.     

Effects of textured morphology on the short circuit current of single crystalline silicon solar cells: Evaluation of alkaline wet-texture processes

The effect of different surface morphologies obtained by anisotropic etching on the light trapping and short circuit current of single crystalline silicon solar cells was investigated. The anisotropic texturing of a (1 0 0) silicon surface was performed using potassium hydroxide (KOH) solution and/or tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAH) solution including isopropyl alcohol (IPA) additive or tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA) additive. Texturing in TMAH solution formed smaller pyramids on the textured surface compared with texturing in KOH solution. Although the textured samples showed similar reflectances (except in the case of the TBA additive), they showed different short circuit currents. Texturing in KOH/TMAH solution led to a 9.6% increase in short circuit current compared with texturing in KOH/IPA solution, a typical etchant in commercial processes. Based on these results, the reflectivity has no simple proportionality relationship to the short circuit current, and the short circuit current of silicon solar cells should be the criterion used in evaluating texturing effects on reducing reflectance and forming a sound junction with high collection efficiency.

文中讨论了随机性离散存贮模型的三个问题:需求是随机离散的报童问题、需求是随机离散的(s,S)型存贮策略问题及需求和拖后时间都是随机离散的存贮模型问题。对当前的有关结论提出了不同看法,并给出了相应的结论。     

A study of the solar atmosphere with high-resolution spectroscopic images: Acquisition system

Summary In this note we describe the image acquisition system realized as a part of an experiment designed to record high-spectral-resolution solar images in the visible part of the spectrum. The system is based on a Charge Coupled Device Thomson THX31159. The electronics for driving the sensor and for the amplification and conditioning of the video signal has been designed and built in the laboratory, while a VME-bus-based computer has been used for the timing of operations, for the signal A/D conversion and for image presentation and storage. Paper presented at the V Cosmic Physics National Conference, S. Miniato, November 27–30, 1990.

本文研究多个复变数解析函数在多圆柱区域上带间断系数的Ｒｉｅｍａｎｎ－Ｈｉｌｂｅｒｔ边值问题。文中给出了这个问题适定的变态提法，首先证明了相应变态问题解的存在唯一性。然后给出原边值问题可解的充要条件及解的积分表达式。     

View factor for inclined plane with Gaussian source

The view factor (angle factor) for a differential inclined plane in the case of a radiating source of radially Gaussian intensity is considered. This information is useful for modelling of solar radiation in certain applications. The view factor is expressed in terms of two integrals, one of which is obtained in closed form in terms of special functions, and the other is approximated. A compact estimate for the view factor is presented which is suitable for machine computation. While the relative error associated with the final estimate is typically less than 0.01%, and in all cases, less than 0.2%, the method is easily extended to yield even greater accuracy.
