We study the interaction of an asymmetric double semiconductor quantum dot molecule with a weak probe field and a strong pump field. We show that the optical properties of the system are controlled by a gate voltage and the pump field. For example, we find that the application of the pump field leads to controlled probe absorption, optical transparency, and gain for weak tunneling rates, while for stronger tunneling rates optical gain disappears and absorption spectra with double peaks are formed. 相似文献

Dynamic pricing has become a common form of electricity tariff, where the price of electricity varies in real time based on the realized electricity supply and demand. Hence, optimizing industrial operations to benefit from periods with low electricity prices is vital to maximizing the benefits of dynamic pricing. In the case of water networks, energy consumed by pumping is a substantial cost for water utilities, and optimizing pump schedules to accommodate for the changing price of energy while ensuring a continuous supply of water is essential. In this paper, a Mixed-Integer Non-linear Programming (MINLP) formulation of the optimal pump scheduling problem is presented. Due to the non-linearities, the typical size of water networks, and the discretization of the planning horizon, the problem is not solvable within reasonable time using standard optimization software. We present a Lagrangian decomposition approach that exploits the structure of the problem leading to smaller problems that are solved independently. The Lagrangian decomposition is coupled with a simulation-based, improved limited discrepancy search algorithm that is capable of finding high quality feasible solutions. The proposed approach finds solutions with guaranteed upper and lower bounds. These solutions are compared to those found by a mixed-integer linear programming approach, which uses a piecewise-linearization of the non-linear constraints to find a global optimal solution of the relaxation. Polycarbonate (PC) composites with low weight have been required for mobile applications. Herein, the incorporation of 15 phr (parts per hundred of resin) soda-lime borosilicate hollow glass microspheres (HGMs) into a PC matrix reduced the specific gravity by 15.2%. The microsphere preservation rate was systematically examined depending on HGM compressive strength, and processing conditions for extrusion (side-feeding vs. main-feeding vs. screw configuration) and injection molding (mild condition for edge gate vs. extreme condition for pinpoint gate). Various transition temperatures such as glass transition temperatures and heat distortion temperature were investigated as a function of HGM. The coefficient of thermal expansion of the 15 phr HGM-embedded PC composites was reduced by 51.9%. The rheological behavior of the composites was also probed. The toughness was reduced due to the ductile-to-brittle transition of PC caused by the incorporation of fillers despite the enhanced modulus. The incorporation of the robust hollow glass microspheres into a PC composite via a delicately designed screw configuration and suitable processing conditions can be used for low-density composites such as mobile applications. 相似文献

This paper presents the stress field of a screw dislocation in a medium graded in y-direction. The medium is exponentially graded. For such a graded material theories of elasticity as well as gradient elasticity are applied. By means of the stress function technique we found exact analytical solutions of the corresponding master equations. Using the stress field, the Peach–Koehler force is given. The axial symmetry of a screw dislocation is lost due to the gradation in the y-direction. 相似文献

依照受激拉曼散射(SRS)半经典理论从物质激发感应出的三阶非线性极化率X~(3)出发,在强激光长程传输受激拉曼散射中建立了泵浦(传输)激光相位与斯托克斯(Stokes)光强相耦合的理论模型。它清楚地说明了SRS效应影响泵浦激光光束特性,其中包括时间特性及空间特性(光束质量)的物理机制及影响因素。理论分析与实验结果符合得较好。实验还测得了不同转换效率η_s情况下传输后的泵浦光及Stokes光的时间过程特性。结果表明,在小转换效率的条件下,泵浦光时间特性基本不受SRS效应的影响;而当转换效率η_s>5%时,泵浦光脉宽随η_s增大而被逐渐压缩。 相似文献

In the present paper dynamic stress intensity factor and strain energy density factor of multiple cracks in the functionally graded orthotropic half-plane under time-harmonic loading are investigated. By utilizing the Fourier transformation technique the stress fields are obtained for a functionally graded orthotropic half-plane containing a Volterra screw dislocation. The variations of the material properties are assumed to be exponential forms which the equilibrium has an analytical solution. The dislocation solution is utilized to formulate integral equation for the half-plane weakened by multiple smooth cracks under anti-plane deformation. The integral equations are of Cauchy singular type at the location of dislocation which are solved numerically to obtain the dislocation density on the faces of the cracks. The dislocation densities are employed to determined stress intensity factor and strain energy density factors (SEDFs) for multiple smooth cracks under anti-plane deformation. Numerical examples are provided to show the effects of material properties and the crack configuration on the dynamic stress intensity factors and SEDFs of the functionally graded orthotropic half-plane with multiple curved cracks. 相似文献

The use of pumps as turbines in different applications has been gaining importance in the recent years, but the subject of hydraulic optimization still remains an open research problem. One of these optimization techniques that include rounding of the sharp edges at the impeller periphery (or turbine inlet) has shown tendencies of performance enhancement.In order to understand the effect of this hydraulic optimization, the paper introduces an analytical model in the pump as turbine control volume and brings out the functionalities of the internal variables classified under control variables consisting of the system loss coefficient and exit relative flow direction and under dependent variables consisting of net tangential flow velocity, net head and efficiency.The paper studies the effects of impeller rounding on a combination of radial flow and mixed flow pumps as turbines using experimental data. The impeller rounding is seen to have positive impact on the overall efficiency in different operating regions with an improvement in the range of 1-3%. The behaviour of the two control variables have been elaborately studied in which it is found that the system loss coefficient has reduced drastically due to rounding effects, while the extent of changes to the exit relative flow direction seems to be limited in comparison. The reasons for changes to these control variables have been physically interpreted and attributed to the behaviour of the wake zone at the turbine inlet and circulation within the impeller control volume.The larger picture of impeller rounding has been discussed in comparison with performance prediction models in pumps as turbines. The possible limitations of the analytical model as well as the test setup are also presented. The paper concludes that the impeller rounding technique is very important for performance optimization and recommends its application on all pump as turbine projects. In this paper we propose and demonstrate an S-band Brillouin-Raman Fiber Laser (BRFL). The S-band BRFL utilizes a Dispersion Compensating Fiber (DCF) as the non-linear gain medium in a linear cavity configuration and amplified by two 1425 nm, 380 mW pumped Raman Fiber Amplifiers (RFAs). A Brillouin Pump (BP) signal of 1515 nm at 12 dBm in power is injected into the setup to generate Stokes lines via the Stimulated Brillouin Scattering (SBS) process. The S-band BRFL is able of generating a Brillouin comb with 32 Stokes lines with a flat peak output power of − 18 dBm. The best BP to Stokes power ratio of the system is determined to be 50:50, while a ratio of 70:30 is observed to generate Stokes with a higher peak power, but at the expense of the number of wavelengths. The S-band BRFL has many potential applications as multiwavelength sources for communications and sensors. 相似文献
