Potential energy surfaces for rotations around two central CN bonds in N-(deoxyguanosin-8-yl)-2-acetylaminofluorene (AAF–dG) and its deacetylated derivative (AF–dG) were studied using Amber 95 molecular mechanics. Both of these adducts are known to be strong mutagens and carcinogens. New Amber 95 force field parameters were derived for the linkage connecting guanine and fluorene moieties in AAF–dG and AF–dG. For this purpose, we determined ab initio MP2/cc-pVDZ//B3-LYP/6-31G* and polarized continuum model Hartree–Fock/6-31G* potential energy surfaces of smaller model systems that included the N-methylimidazole–acetylaniline and N-methylimidazole–aniline adducts. The molecular mechanics parameters were adjusted to minimize differences between the gas-phase ab initio and molecular mechanics surfaces of these model systems. The resulting parameters were transferred to AF–dG and AAF–dG. The barrier for the rotation of the fluorene residue in AF–dG was found to be less than 2 kcal/mol. Such a small barrier renders the fluorene moiety freely rotatable at room temperature. In contrast, the fluorene rotation in AAF–dG is hindered by a significantly larger barrier of 10 kcal/mol. This barrier corresponds to conformations in which the fluorene and acetyl groups lie in the same plane, and is largely due to steric repulsion. Similarly, the coplanar arrangement of guanine and the bridging amino or acetyl groups is disfavored by 5–10 kcal/mol, with AAF–dG again being the more rigid of the two molecules. Energy minima for a rotation around a bond between guanine and the bridging nitrogen are found at ±80° in AAF–dG, and at 120° and –90° for AF–dG. Overall, the fluorene–dG linkages in AF–dG and AAF–dG adducts have significantly different equilibrium structures and torsional flexibilities. These differences may be contributing factors for the observed disparity in mutagenic effects of these adducts.Electronic Supplementary Material: Supplementary material is available in the online version of this article at Acknowledgements. Summary The three-dimensional potential energy functions have been calculated from highly correlated multireference configuration interaction electronic wavefunctions for theX 3 B 1,a 1 A 1, andb 1 B 1 states of the NH 2 + ion. For the quasi-linear electronic ground state this information and the electric dipole moment functions have been used to calculate spectroscopic constants, line intensities and rotationally resolved absorption spectra. For thea 1 A 1-b 1 B 1 bent/quasi-linear Renner-Teller system ro-vibronic energy levels have been obtained from a variational approach accounting for anharmonicity, rotation-vibration and electronic angular momenta coupling effects. The reactivity of Cu+ with OCS on both singlet and triplet potential energy surfaces (PES) has been investigated at the UB3LYP/6-311+G(d) level. The object of this investigation was the elucidation of the reaction mechanism. The calculated results indicated that both the C–S and C–O bond activations proceed via an insertion–elimination mechanism. Intersystem crossing between the singlet and triplet surfaces may occur along both the C–S and C–O bond activation branches. The ground states of CuS+ and CuO+ were found to be triplets, whereas CuCO+ and CuCS+ have singlet ground states. The C–S bond activation is energetically much more favorable than the C–O bond activation. All theoretical results are in line with early experiments.  相似文献

A set of coupled equations is given which determines the distributions of the electric potential and counterions in a system of two interacting identical ion-penetrable membranes of thickness d at separation h immersed in a salt-free medium containing only counterions. The solution to these coupled equations also gives the electrostatic repulsive force between the membranes. It is shown that the interaction force remains finite at h-->0, unlike the case of the interaction between two planar charged surfaces (d-->0), and that the interaction force becomes independent of the membrane fixed charge and membrane thickness d at very large h. Finally, an approximate single transcendental equation giving the solution to the coupled equations is derived.  相似文献

Ab initio Hartree-Fock calculations utilising STO-3G, 3-21G* and 6-31G* basis sets have been performed on three neutral and highly polar molecules, (diformylmethine)borondifluoride, (acetylacetonato)borondifluoride and (dibenzylmethine) borondifluoride. The calculated and experimental structures are well correlated when using the HF/3-21G* basis set, except for the structure parameters involving the boron atom. The HF/6-31G* basis set does not improve the accuracy in structure calculations. The conformational analysis is in agreement with the experimentally observed C2v symmetrical structures, where the boron atom is tetrahedrally coordinated. The calculations support a one-dimensional ground state barrier crossing reaction for (dibenzylmethine)borondifluoride, where the phenyl torsion is the most likely reaction coordinate. Both HF/6-31G* calculations and the second-order Møller-Plesset correction with the 3-21G* basis set suggest an activation energy of the ground state reaction of about 30 kJ mol−1. The ground state barrier crossing reaction kinetics is evaluated by the Kramers theory. The calculated ground state parameters relevant to the barrier crossing reaction are compared with the experimentally observed excited state values.  相似文献

A simple classification scheme is proposed for critical points, based only on rankr and signatures of the (n,n)-matrixG of harmonic force constants. The determination ofr ands, e.g. by the well-known factorizationG=L T gL (L: triangular matrix,g: diagonal matrix), has several theoretical as well as practical (computational) advantages over the inspection of eigenvalues ofG, so far used in quantum chemistry. The eigenvalues are sufficient butnot necessary for a classification whereas rank and signature are the only necessary and sufficient prerequisites for solving the task. For the purpose of presenting a working example, by calculating only a 2×2 torque constant matrix, it is shown that the coplanar ethylbenzene is unstable in the CNDO/2 picture.  相似文献
